URGENT : Michael Vick’s indictment doesn’t go far enough. The dogs on Michael Vick's property didn't stand a chance. According to a federal prosecutor, they were allegedly hanged, slammed to the ground, drowned, electrocuted after being doused with water, and shot. As Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) stated on the floor of the U.S. Senate, there is an especially hot place in hell for anyone who could treat an animal like this. We want such people to pay for their crimes right here on Earth.

Michael Vick's indictment has brought the horror and cruelty of dogfighting into our homes. I wish I could tell you that this is an isolated incident, but it isn't. Every day at PETA, we get shocking and outrageous reports from all over about dogs, cats, and other companion animals who are the deliberate targets of human violence and greed. PETA goes to law enforcement agencies every week with cases, and we gain convictions. But all too often, these agencies ignore animal abuse—despite the proven link between cruelty to animals and other forms of violence, including abuse of spouses and children.

Even when charges are filed and abusers are convicted, we often must educate and pressure law enforcement officials and prosecutors to sentence perpetrators to the fullest extent allowed by law so that animal abusers don't get away with a slap on the wrist. The case against Michael Vick is typical of cases we deal with all the time. He stands accused of heinous torture of animals. We're grateful that the public has responded with outrage.   Roscoe and two other pit bulls, Mylie and Buck, starved to death in the dead of winter, trapped at the end of heavy chains in the back yard of their owner's home. Thanks to PETA's anti-cruelty casework, their owner was charged, prosecuted, and convicted in late June of three counts of cruelty to animals. He told our caseworker that "dogs die every day ... so what's the big deal?" Necropsies revealed that the dogs had suffered over many weeks with ailments including hookworms, whipworms, and heartworm disease. All were half their normal body weight at the time of their death.

  When PETA staff found Rikus, he was bloody, limping, and suffering from severe and untreated dogfighting injuries. He was tethered to a tree in his owner's back yard. Nearby, our staff found Santana, another injured pit bull who had multiple scars from earlier fights as well as a broken leg and other injuries. The vast majority of animals who are bred to fight and kill are not adoptable and have to be euthanized—another tragic consequence of dogfighting.

J'ai quand même connu des refuges qui se regroupaient entre eux pour que les animaux aient une chance supplémentaire d'être adoptés...
Et puis j'ai connu pas mal de bénévoles qui en fait n'y connaissaient que dalle sur le comment on s'occuppe de chiens et de chats, ils n'avaient pas vraiment de formation sur le sujet.
Pour les chiens, vivre en commnauté à la spa, c'est plutot rare. Ils sont plutot dans des cages les unes à coté des autres. C'est pas vraiment une vie en communauté pour moi ça. Mais c'est vrai. Il arrive que 4 ou 5 chouchous aient le droit de se ballader partout...
Il y a aussi quand même beaucoup de problèmes d'organisation et d'argent mal utilisé qui explique les difficultés rencontrés par la spa. Que je sache, leurs services juridiques ne se font pas payer des clopinettes ( contrairement au veto chef comme tu le fais remarquer ), et les actions judiciaires entreprises contre les mauvais maitres, franchement je vois pas l'interet quand ça s'accompagne "d'un manque de place, de temps et de moyens pour s'occuper de problème au cas par cas...".

Une fillette tuée par des chiens dans l'Oise, un homme blessé dans le Haut-Rhin



Un nouveau drame a été provoqué par des chiens samedi avec la mort d'une fillette de 10 ans mordue par deux dogues allemands non soumis à la réglementation des chiens dangereux qui vivaient avec sa famille dans la commune d'Auteuil (Oise), près de Beauvais.
Par ailleurs, un homme de 72 ans a été mordu aux bras, aux jambes et au visage par l'un des rottweillers de son fils, samedi après-midi à Saint-Louis (Haut-Rhin), a-t-on appris dimanche.
L'accident s'est produit aux environs de 13H00 au domicile de la victime, alors que les deux rottweillers appartenant à son fils, un mâle et une femelle, se trouvaient dans la cour. Pour une raison encore indéterminée, le mâle s'est jeté sur le père de son maître.
Le fils de la victime s'est alors emparé d'une arme qu'il détenait légalement et a tiré sur l'animal, le blessant. La victime a été transportée au centre hospitalier de Mulhouse et ses jours ne sont pas en danger. Le chien a été euthanasié samedi en fin d'après-midi par le vétérinaire des pompiers de Saint-Louis, selon une source policière.
A Auteuil, le drame s'est produit vers 16h00, alors que l'enfant jouait avec deux dogues allemands - chiens de grande taille pouvant mesurer jusqu'à un mètre au garrot - dans la cour du domicile qu'occupaient sa mère et son compagnon depuis un an dans cette petite commune, a indiqué la gendarmerie.
La mère, qui se trouvait dans la maison au moment du drame, a été alertée par les cris de sa fille, restée seule avec les deux chiens. Elle n'a pu intervenir à temps. Mordue au cou, à la poitrine et au bras droit, la fillette est morte sur place, a précisé le colonel de gendarmerie Michel Pidoux. Un vétérinaire s'est rendu sur place pour anesthésier les chiens en attendant la décision du procureur sur une éventuelle euthanasie.
Ce drame est intervenu près d'un mois après le décès d'une fillette de 18 mois défigurée par un chien de race American staffordshire terrier à Epernay (Marne). Dans ce dernier cas, l'enfant avait été mordue chez elle une semaine plus tôt par l'animal, qui avait agi subitement alors qu'elle ne jouait pas avec lui. Sa mère gardait pendant quelques heures ce chien de combat, né du croisement du bouledogue et du terrier.
Cet événement avait provoqué la tenue d'une réunion par la ministre de l'Intérieur Michèle Alliot-Marie le 27 août. Samedi, elle a déclaré dans un communiqué que les projets de textes législatifs et réglementaires concernant ces chiens dangereux devraient être présentés cette semaine.
Ces textes concernent notamment "l'instauration d'une formation obligatoire pour les propriétaires ou détenteurs de chiens dangereux" et "la production obligatoire d'un certificat établi par un vétérinaire au moment de la déclaration en mairie". Ils portent aussi sur le "renforcement des pouvoirs de l'autorité administrative pour ordonner l'euthanasie des chiens en cas d'atteinte ou de menace d'atteinte grave à l'intégrité physique des personnes" et "l'interdiction des croisements susceptibles de produire des chiens dangereux".
Les accidents impliquant des chiens semblent se multiplier. Depuis 1989, on recense en France 30 personnes tuées par des chiens, la plupart des victimes étant des enfants ou des personnes âgées. Le 11 juin 2006, c'était déjà un American staffordshire qui avait tué une fillette de 17 mois dans sa poussette à Sevran (Seine-Saint-Denis), lors d'un dîner familial.
Plus récemment, depuis la mi-août, on a recensé pas moins de neuf agressions sévères de chiens contre des humains.
La dernière en date remontait à vendredi : une jeune femme de 27 ans a été grièvement mordue au niveau du crâne par deux rottweilers appartenant à sa famille, à Noisy-le-Sec (Seine-Saint-Denis). Elle était samedi hors de danger.

La consommation exclusive de viande que donnent certaines personnes à leurs chiens et chats les rend malade : " l'ostéofibrose est beaucoup plus répandue et rend compte de troubles variés. En pratique, l'affection est si souvent liée à une consommation exclusive de viande (laquelle est prise pour l'aliment idéal du carnivore), qu'on la désigne communément sous le terme de " syndrome du régime tout viande ". L'excès protéique d'un tel régime ne peut qu'aggraver les conséquences du déséquilibre phosphocalcique puisqu'il entrave l'assimilation du calcium. En outre, il s'accompagne de carences en cuivre, iode, vitamine A et B2, également néfastes à l'ostéogenèse " (Walker et Linkswiller, 1972).

Mon chien mort par ordre Municipale



Bach, mon Berger Allemand, il avait 7 mois, il était fort, il aimait jouer, il jouissait d’une très bonne santé.
Un jour, il commença à vomir sans savoir pourquoi, à ne pas vouloir manger, il était triste, et on commença à lui donner les médicaments nécessaires, aujourd’hui ceci, demain cela.
Juste au début de tout ceci nous avions adopté le Yorkshire, et nous pensions que le Berger était jaloux, ce qui expliquait son manque d’appétit et ses vomissements, tout comme le vétérinaire nous confirmait, du moins supposait. Un jour il était bien, deux il était mal, et ainsi jusqu’à la fin du mois de Juin, en étant moi en voyage, j’apprends par téléphone que Bach venait de mourir.
Hier quelqu’un me raconte une histoire qui me laisse sans quoi dire, en colère et perplexe. Selon cette personne il s’agirait de la Municipalité d’Agadir qui de temps à autre jette un peu partout des petites boules noires pour en finir avec les chiens et les chats errant et éviter les maladies qui peuvent se transmettre. Ces petites boules noires empoisonnent les pauvres bêtes, détruisent leurs organes vitaux et peu après cause leur mort. Cela m’a rappelé avoir aperçu jour un chien en pleine décomposition dans une des rues d’un quartier d’Agadir, je m’imagine qu’un jour quelqu’un a pris le temps de "ramasser" ce qui en restait. Cela occasionne aussi beaucoup de maladies contagieuses mes chers messieurs.
Voilà comment mon chien BACH est mort, par ordre Municipale.
Cela coûte moins cher que les fourrières pour animaux. Un jour les chiens et les chats vont être tous exterminés, il faudrait peut être penser aux rats en premier.

We, the People and undersigned, now educated in the barbaric and inhumane treatment of animals being used for the fur trade around the world, firmly believe that our U.S. Congress and our Judicial System should PROMPTLY move forth on legislation introduced into Congress and enforcement of laws already in place since 1951.

No more ‘loopholes’. No more ‘excuses’. No more ‘delays’.

We as a humane society have the right to know what is in the products we purchase and that the production of such is in a humane manner concurrent with the values we as American people have regarding kindred creatures of which we are the protectorates.

Furthermore, we ask our Judicial system to enforce the Fur Products Labeling Act of 1951:

which prohibits fur products from being falsely or deceptively labeled or otherwise falsely or deceptively identified; requires a fur to be labeled properly as to the animal or animals that produced the fur, the name or companies that manufactured the fur, introduced it into commerce, advertised or offered it for sale as well as the name of the country of origin of the fur product. Violation of this law is unlawful under the Federal Trade Commission Act (15 U.S.C. 41 et seq.)

Furthermore, we ask that violations of this law are given the FULL penalty of the Fur Products Labeling Act of 1951 for each and every violation as addressed in the law (guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall not be fined more than $5,000 or be imprisoned not more than one year, or both). Should the Federal Trade Commission have reason to believe any person is guilty of this violation, we ask the Attorney General to PROMPTLY cause appropriate proceedings to be brought forth for the enforcement of this law.

Greatly disappointed by our legislatures when the Truth in Fur Labeling Act of 2006 (introduced to Congress on March 8, 2006 by Rep. Mike Ferguson) was stalled in Congress at a subcommittee level since March of 2006)…

We, the People, now ask our legislatures to take IMMEDIATE action in this matter.

We, the People and undersigned, ask our Congress to PROMPTLY move forth on the Dog & Cat Fur Prohibition Enforcement Act presented by Representative Jim Moran and Michael Ferguson to protect animals and consumers by outlawing the fur from Raccoon Dogs and requiring ALL garments trimmed with fur to be labeled, REGARDLESS of value.

We, the People, ask our Congress to close up all loopholes in this matter, allowing us as consumers to make the final decision on what we buy based upon the knowledge that we actually know what we are buying.

We, the People, advise the Congress we are dissatisfied with our choices being taken away from us in this matter due to a lack of enforcement of the 1951 law prohibiting the mislabeling of fur products.

"La Chine a maintenant un nouveau "fetish" ; cela en a rendu beaucoup malades au point de faire des cauchemars.

Il y a réellement un site Web japonais ou on peut voir une femme écraser a mort un chaton avec des talons aiguilles.

La femme a une paire de menotte qui est accroché autour du cou de ce jeune chaton pendant qu'elle l'écrase avec son talon puis elle utilise une paire de ciseaux pour éventrer ce chaton.

Il y'a des vidéos qui circulent également avec un autre chaton, un lapin, et un chiot.

La femme et les fondateurs de ce site Web horrible devraient servir d'exemple, CETTE PAUVRE CREATURE MERITE LA JUSTICE !
