Before PETA found her, Chloe—a sweet-as-pie Labrador mix—had spent countless lonely days outdoors, confined to a barren patch of dirt in a small backyard pen. Her only protection on even the most frigid days was a plastic barrel that did nothing to shield her from bone-chilling winter wind and driving cold rain that would pour into her pen, trapping her in a filthy swamp of mud and her own waste. But PETA fieldworkers knew what to do! They got Chloe out of that pen, pronto, and provided her with a sturdy wooden doghouse packed with straw for her to curl up in, which they placed on a patch of dry ground. They outfitted Chloe with a proper collar and a lightweight tie-out that stays tangle-free. PETA fieldworkers will make regular follow-up visits to make sure that the situation does not deteriorate. Chloe is now also spayed, thanks to PETA's unique, low-cost to no-cost door-to-door transport and sterilization program. 100 Doghouses for 100 Dogs Without Shelter

PETA's team spayed Persia and provided a sturdy PETA doghouse, which was placed in a nice grassy area. Persia was chained outside amidst piles of junk—plywood, old bikes, and broken furniture—with no protection from the elements. Buddy was chained out with only a plastic airline crate for shelter.
We did one better and provided him with a brand new house! Itchy’s guardian is a collector of things (thankfully not animals though!). Unfortunately for Itchy, that meant he was kept among the trash, in a blocked-off area with only a few square feet to move around.

We provided Itchy with a sturdy doghouse & straw bedding, but most importantly, we cleaned up his living area so he finally has fresh grass to sniff. This sweet dog was chained in the cold with only a barrel as shelter. We provided her with a sturdy doghouse & straw bedding to keep her from freezing during the cold winter months. PETA Doghouse Blueprint

PETA found Blackout chained in a cold, wet, dirty area with nothing but a plastic crate as shelter.
Through the generosity of supporters like you, we were able to provide Blackout with a sturdy, weatherproof doghouse, straw bedding, a lightweight tie-out to replace his heavy chain, a trip to our spay-and-neuter clinic, and a toy.

Please Be an 'Angel' for a Lonely Dog This Winter

With your help, we can prevent dogs from suffering through the bitterly cold winter months without adequate shelter. Please sponsor shelter for a neglected dog by becoming an "Angels for Animals" sponsor today. With a little help from you and your friends, we can reach our goal of providing 100 dogs shelter from the harsh cold of winter.

Doghouse sponsors fund PETA's vital work to provide doghouses, medical care, food supplements, and much-appreciated affection to outdoor dogs. Of course, we want all guardians to let their dogs live inside as loved family members. But if we can't convince them to do so and the dogs aren't neglected enough to require intervention by local authorities, we work with the dogs' guardians to ensure that the animals receive the shelter and attention that they need. Our doghouses are assembled and delivered to dogs in need by dedicated PETA staff. The houses come in a number of different sizes in order to allow animals room to turn around completely when inside. They also feature a slanted roof that protects animals from rain and snow and an overhang to provide a shady resting place in the summer. PETA provides these rugged doghouses year-round, whenever we learn of a dog in need. Thank you for having compassion for cold "backyard dogs" this winter

We began rescuing puppies from the streets and deserts of Puerto Penasco, Mexico in June of 2008, since then we have place 277 rescued puppies into loving homes and spayed or neutered 100. We are a no kill shelter which means we do not put down any animals because they've been with us too long. We want to end the sad problem and the suffering of too many unwanted domestic animals and WE ARE.
