Prayer for Trust in Jesus

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

To Be Free From Worry

Father, I'm praying that (name one or more) and others in my circle of family and friends will be free from worry...

Help them not worry when things don't go the way they expect. Jesus said we're not to fret, not to worry, not to let our hearts be troubled or afraid. He said we're to trust in You— and also in Him. May it be so in their lives and ministry, no matter how impossible things seem. (John 14:1, 27b)

Keep them from worrying about tomorrow, for each day has enough trouble of its own. When such trouble comes, help them to cast all their anxiety on Christ because He cares for them. (Matthew 6:34; 1 Peter 5:7)

Help them not to be anxious about anything but to pray about everything with thanksgiving—for when they do, You'll give them Your peace that surpasses their understanding, and such peace guards their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6–7)

Keep their minds steadfast in trusting You, and give them Your perfect peace. May they turn to the Lord of Peace who will give them peace at all times, in every way. (Isaiah 26:3; 2 Thessalonians 3:16)

Help them leave every worry at Your feet where it belongs.

In Jesus' name, amen.

Beliefs
While Catholicism preaches and believes the Roman catholic church to be the supreme authority, Christianity encompasses all churches as well as individuals without churches, as many modern practitioners may be believers in Christ but not active church goers. Both Catholics and other kinds of Christians will study the Bible, attend church, seek ways to introduce the teachings of Jesus into his or her life, and engage in prayer.

Catholics also follow the teachings of Jesus Christ but do so through the church, whom they consider as the path to Jesus. They believe in the special authority of the Pope which other Christians may not believe in, whereas Christians are free to accept or reject individual teachings and interpretations of the bible. Catholics and Christians seek forgiveness for their personal sins through faith in Jesus Christ. The goal of the Christian and Catholic is the manifestation of the Kingdom of God on Earth and the attainment of Heaven in after-life.

The Catholic Church teaches the doctrines of Jesus Christ as transmitted in the New Testament of the Bible, as well as the teachings, Psalms, and histories of the Jewish prophets in the Old Testament. The Catholic Religion preserves a tradition of Priesthood, Monks, and Nuns that date back to the early middle ages and before. The Catholic Religion is based on the entire Bible, especially in the direct teachings of Jesus given in the New Testament of the Bible. Other non-Catholic Christian texts based on the teachings of Jesus include the Gnostic Gospels.

Salvation
Christians and Catholics believe salvation is a gift by means of the unmerited grace of God, a gift from a loving heavenly Father who sent His only begotten Son Jesus to be their savior. They believe that, through faith in Jesus, one can be saved from sin and eternal death. However, the Bible records in John 3:3-10 that in order for anyone to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, one must be born again by the Spirit of God. This was taught by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and is recorded in scripture in both Catholic and Protestant Bibles. Catholics do believe that one becomes born again at Baptism. Christians believe that once you believe and have faith in Christ you are born again. You don't have to be baptized to be a Christian, but in all the scriptures, people receive Christ, then they are baptized. Baptism is the representation of dying with Christ and being raised with him.

Scriptures
The teachings of the Catholic Church are derived from two sources, firstly the Sacred Scriptures (the Bible) and secondly the Sacred Tradition. Catholicism, like Christianity regards the Holy Bible, a collection of canonical books in two parts (the Old Testament and the New Testament) as authoritative: written by human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and therefore the inerrant word of God. So in a way both follow the Bible as their central scripture, however there are nine books that are left out from modern Christian translations.

Video explaining the differences
The following video explains the doctrinal differences between Roman Catholics, Eastern Rite Catholics, and Orthodox Christians.

Origin
The first known usage of the term Christians can be found in the New Testament of the Bible. The term was thus first used to denote those known or perceived to be disciples of Jesus. Similarly, in the two other New Testament it refers to the public identity of those who follow Jesus.

The history of early Christianity, including Catholicism is told in Acts in the New Testament. The early days of Christianity witnessed the desert Fathers in Egypt, sects of hermits and Gnostic ascetics. Christianity began in 1st century AD Jerusalem as a Jewish sect but spread throughout the Roman Empire and beyond to countries such as Ethiopia, Armenia, Georgia, Assyria, Iran, India, and China.

Roman Catholicism traces its history to the apostles, especially the Apostle Peter. St. Peter is considered the first pope, and every Pope since is regarded as his spiritual successor. It was only after the first thousand years of Christianity that this new denomination of Catholicism came into being. This was for those people who wanted to follow God through the Church. They give the leader of the church spiritual authority to provide a means for resolving disputes that could divide the church. Roman Catholicism was not initiated until the First Ecumenical Council in A.D. 325. At this point, corrupt church leaders were attempting to take power in the Byzantine Roman Empire. The first unified Roman Catholic Church was created in A.D. 606 with world-wide leadership. It is virtually impossible to trace the origin of the Papacy, as the early Christians maintained their records in the Catacombs in Rome. The Church of Rome took control of the catacombs and revised the documents to include the title Pope for any early church leader that was deemed worthy. Roman Catholic Tradition and the Catechism of the Catholic Church prevail over scripture in every context. Scripture is used as a reference. During their rise to political power in A.D. 300-500, the Church or Rome accepted Pagan and Roman society as holy and acceptable to appease the population. During this time, the Church of Rome (not yet universal) declared anyone who disagreed with their teachings as a heretic. Heretics were killed by the Church of Rome for any belief outside of Christianity and their written works were destroyed. During the plagues circa A.D. 500, many people abandoned the cities and the sick. After this dark period, the full Catholic Church entered into society.

The Pope View
The idea of the "pope" actually existing from the beginning of the church is scripturally correct as Christ had declared Peter, the spiritual rock. It was the Holy Spirit who instituted the church when He visited the 120 people in the Upper room on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2. On that day the "Christian Church was born when 120 were "filled" with the Holy Spirit and tongues of fire rested upon their heads. They then began to "speak in tongues" as evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit.

View of Homosexuality
Throughout the majority of Christian history most theologians and Christian denominations have viewed homosexual behavior as immoral or sinful. However, in the past century some prominent theologians and Christian religious groups have espoused a wide variety of beliefs and practices towards homosexuals, including the establishment of some 'open and accepting' congregations. In Roman Catholicism, homosexual acts are contrary to natural law and sinful while homosexual desires are disordered (but not necessarily sinful). Both the Catholic church and other Christian denominations have had priests or pastors who were gay. All homosexual priests have been censured by the Catholic Church.

Hierarchy
The Catholic Religion has a historical lineage and hierarchy that is centered in the Pope and Vatican City in Rome. The Catholic Religion was the source of the Protestant and Anglican Churches as they evolved to break with Papal authority. Catholics do not allow priesthood to women.

A Christian may follow any church based in the New Testament. Some churches permit female priests, while others do not. Both Catholics and Christians venerate the Mother of Jesus, Mary, as well as the 12 disciples as the principal teachers of the faith. The Pope is not regarded as the supreme authority by Christianity. Some denominations of Christianity allow women to become priests after ordination.

Worships and Practices
Roman Catholics and Christians believe that all people should strive to follow Christ's commands and example in their everyday actions. For many, this includes obedience to the Ten Commandments. Christian practices include acts of piety such as prayer and Bible reading which even Catholics follow. Christians and Roman Catholics assemble for communal worship on Sunday, the day of the resurrection, though with Christians other liturgical practices often occur outside this setting. At Mass the Scripture readings are drawn from the Old and New Testaments.

In the Catholic Church, there is a distinction between Liturgy, which is the formal public and communal worship of the Church, and personal prayer or devotion, which may be public or private. Other Christians may not have such a system and may all pray together. The Liturgy is regulated by church authority and consists of the Eucharist (the Mass), the other Sacraments, and the Liturgy of the Hours. All Catholics are expected to participate in the liturgical life.

Agreed. I do think the web site is great start regardless. Always challenge who the audince is vs what is said. Loyalty to beleifs are tough to change. I beleive, faith has no denomination. I do guard the church and its powers, we are becomming too lazy and simply follow what makes us sound like a Christian. P. R.

Firstly, one quick comment to all Christians, Catholic or other wise. Peace Love & Understanding [quote] John Lennon. "Peace" we are all Gods children, that means helping one another, being kind & loving. EVERYONE FORTUNATE enough to call them selves CHRISTIAN, & BLESSED with LOVE in/of GOD & FAITH in JESUS CHRIST... need focus on those LESS FORTUNATE instead of selfishly preaching self-owned beliefs on others. Maybe start with LEADING by EXAMPLE, &/or by LEAVING a GOOD EXAMPLE for others i.e. others visiting this web page that have never read the bible ? Then leaving them with impressions of crazy ignorant peoples, divided & arguing over weather or not Catholics are Christian's ? ALL Christians must work together with KINDNESS, COMPASSION, UNDERSTANDING. General Christians could achieve this primarily by LISTENING !!! Kindly & patiently & humbly & silently LISTENING !!! Catholics could achieve this primarily by EXPLAINING !!! Kindly & rationally & accurately & logically EXPLAINING !!! Compassionately & specifically EXPLAINING all those LITTLE DIFFERENCES, mentioned above between Catholicism & Christianity !!! (especially those differences held/mention above, with regards to Jesus)

For EX ; means For Example.. Teaching and convincing others with different views is the task, not trying to sound demanding or Bias. Think, pray and speak, otherwise listen. We all have to listen in order to learn or at least share our view. Atheist on this site, wow. Great to see that you have curiosity.
65.✗.✗.125 on 2013-08-09 21:10:09
You forgot that part about the Catholic Church being the original Christian Church. It is not a "denomination" but rather the original Church established by Jesus Christ. To suggest otherwise is to bear false witness to God.

As an atheist, all I can say is... Religion is synonymous with Conflict. Dont believe me? Just read the comments area of pretty much anything involving the beginning of the universe, any kind of religion or deity, etc. Sorry, but we all know its the unfortunate truth.

God calls us all to be holy for He is holy. So it doesn't matter if you call yourselves Catholic or Christian, if you are not living holy and righteous according to His way, which is the only way! Then you are not saved. Jesus healed several people and told them to go about their way and sin no more!

Ok first of all, why would you even talk to your ex on anonymous comments? Really I doubt she would look at this. Second no we didn't fail because we EXPERIENCE! You just get off of books and sometimes it takes a little more than that. And I'm pretty sure that you knew comments like this would come from making this website anyway...

Let's not forget the subject line of this site. Catholics VS Christians. The attacks do not proof anything other than reading a few lines. It is obvious we are all going to have different views, why do you feel different is the question. What makes your faith choose one side over the other. Could it be influential ? Perhaps marriage ? maybe lack of understanding ? That is the subject line of this forum. It's not meant for which religion has been chosen by God therefore the rest are condemed. If you see a huge difference, I do not care what kind of studies you have achieved, read it again. You failed !! Faith grows by understanding not by attending or earning some level of ranking that says you have faith. Catholics have structure, it does not matter what part of the world you are in, it follows the same method. Christians have great leadership by a great Pastor, he gets the chance of marriage and fatherhood. You pick !! Listen to the word and apply it, the rest will follow. For Ex; I have a hard time with providing a living to any Men by speaking of the word of God. Back then yes, today, no. Way too many luxuries needed for a Family of four that simply cost more than the average single men. Tough part; it cost money for us to sit in a nice A/C room with acces to bathrooms and nice parking lots. I have a tough time with this. Just my view. P. R.

This person who wrote this probably isn't catholic at all.... You try coming into our church and learn our faith for a while... As we say "All catholics are christian but NOT all christians are catholic". And look at the list you made anyway both subjects are basically saying the same thing... Just put in diffrent words. I'm 14 years old and I can see that.... Its a shame really what people say and have no experience on it at all. Just get along with each other for crying out loud.. Is that too much to ask?

I saw someone's comment about Catholics & divorce.... Catholics can get separated or have the marriage annulled. This just seems like a place for a bunch of Christians who think that they are better than Catholics to rant. You are no better than me just because of your religion or mine. God must be so proud of you for all of your hate filled comments.

Look everyone, we will all find out the truth when Jesus comes back again! we should put away our petty arguments and love each other, just like Jesus would want us to... I am a christian, but i was a Catholic, and I personally found being a Catholic to be restricting for me personally and reading the bible in church and seeing the verse that says to not pray to idols (pope) but to God him self, and i love the freedom that Christianity give me and i am happy where i was feeling confused even after understanding what being a Catholic was all about.

Are you people that ignorant. Do you even know how these religions started in tome? Jesus translations were written from 100 to 200 years after his death. The documents that are proven to be written in his time are the dead sea scrolls. This'll even shock you! The cross doesn't represent no religion it was discovered 2000 years before Abraham in ancient Mesopotamia and used by the Babylonians. Do your homework followers in ancient Egypt Horus is what religion mimicked Jesus on! You all are idiots and uneducated.!

The section under Christian Laws is incorrect..you stated (None) when in actuality the law for the Christian belief is the 10 Commandments as well.

Darwin, great to see that you are growing in faith. I caution you in your thinking of Religion since you mentioned some of the differences and the judging. If you are comparing, you are judging; in this case different religions bring the same message, worry about the non beleivers and speak to them, there is the challenge for all. Your faith is strong, do not fear of any attacks towards your beliefs, that could be a sign of weakness. In my opinion, the teaching of not judging is meant for commiting sins to benefit without the need of telling. Only God can judge, only he can see it " Otherwise, we are all judged by our actions, there is no hiding from it. We are to live by the rules of God and that is it. We all hide behind the helping of others makes me a good christian and also feels good but we really need to abide by teaching the rules and the punishment of ignoring.Show your happiness and let others feel your energy, they will know that you follow God and he blesses you every day by the way you talk and speak of him. Hi, I'm Darwin Garcia Del Rosario, a 16 years old Filipino, and turning 17 this May 23... I have found this blog site because I want to finds answers to my question.. I'm a Catholic but since last year, someone invited me to attend in a BornAgain church until I've involved in their activities.. I have been on a "encounter", and under processing in a School Of Leader program in their church and this coming few days, I will be undertaking baptism.. but still I'm proud of being a Catholic and I will remain Catholic till I die.. Yes, Im getting a little bit hurt when they are saying something bad against Catholic but still I'm being strong and hoping that someday I will be proving to them that being a Catholic is never been a hindrance to get close to God. I just noticed that most of my co-churchmate there are mostly from being a Catholic and converted into BornAgain and I just get mad whenever they testify and use of their past which is being a Catholic (unbeliever) and make compare it with their curret status to God. I know most of BornAgain knows what I'm saying and I just want to say that please stop doing that.. We cannot use our past to compare it with our present because our past plays a big part of our life and from with it, we've learned.. Well back to my point.. I'm not living by what I know, by what I hear, by what I see and by what I feel, because I'm living by what I believe which is believing in God, Christ as my savior, being a blessings to others and most of all Loving God Loving people... I'm a Catholic and I'm proud of it. Your freely to judge me not my God. But still I will continue to be baptize and attend in a BornAgain church, and I can also attend in my Catholic church anytime.. I will continue praising and worshiping Him and I will continue to serve Him. I have been closed to many of my co-church in BornAgain and to our leaders and to our pastor but I cannot see any reason to change my religion.. Yes I have been born again in all aspect of my life including in soul and spirit, (read John chapter 3), but if they are if I'm a BornAgain in religion, I will answer it with NO.. Now what I want to say is that.. Let us not live by what our religion is. Let us live by what we know is right. Live by what you believe and stand for it as long as your in righteousness. Serve God by serving other people. Be a blessings to others. If you find something wrong with them, do not judge them or insult them like you yourself doesn't make mistakes instead pray for them to know what is right from wrong.. In the end, we are all just His son who will face judgement and confess what we have done and not what we have in this world. We are all Christian, believing and following Him.. just like bodies of water (rivers, lakes, ponds and ocean), different in name but we just all have same contain,, may be different in many ways but all we believe are all truths.. If will be given a chance to have a one wish in my birthday to our Lord, that is having no religion at all so we can all be at one.. What we do in debating between our religions is worst than a war.. so let us stop it please.. to God be the glory... For those who have read this, thank you for your time.. God bless. Smile

We beleive. That is a good thing, apply your understanding of faith and keep learning as you grow. God, Jesus his son and many beleivers have succeded in spreading their truth and good kindness. Differences are ok, as long as you are following yours and not partial. Winning an argument does not change a thing.. PR.

Christians and Catholics are two different things. I am Christian and believe in having a personal connection with God and Jesus. I think of God and Jesus as my friends!!

Let's just all agree on one thing here... We are not perfect and we need Christ. All of us (Cathlics, Orthodox, Evangelicals, Protistents, or whatever) need to look to God for answers and God's word the bible. If we believe something that doesn't line up with scripture DON'T change scripture to match your beliefs but change your beliefs to match scripture.

How many versions do you know ? Read one in its entirety and view the message. I also saw a comment regarding a new Bible that fits our society. Is your Society the only one that counts ? Did you write off your grandparents ? Did they also write off their grandparents ? Our Society wants all to fit in a box, thinking is out of the questions and applying would be asking for the impossible. I can only imagine what awaits for all of us as we also approach the old age. The Bible has a message. We are to understand it and interpret to our life. If God keeps performing miracles just to keep convincing us, how much would we ask of him. One could assume he would be call a Genie in a bottle; or at least until he stopped listening because you misbehave. Again, how far would we push until we finaly agreed to claim him as our father. If you stay married and sleep in separet beds, it is your choice. If you commit adultery and you are lost, my Bible does not simply ignore and go on about your business. It is called misery until you repent and truly understand. You carrie the guilt until you feel ready, waiting for your own acceptance and feeling yourself again. We keep searching for straight answers in the Bible like we are searching Google or Wiki. This is how comfortable we have become and gently put, lazy. Free will means, you find it on your own, no bargains, no deals, no negotiations. What kind of a God would he be if he forced you to beleive. P.R.

As a Catholic I accept other denominations as Christians and pray that we would find greater unity in supporting the christian way of life. Jesus spoke of love, understanding and not judging. We have so many assaults upon Christianity I believe we should come together to defend our common belief in one God, the Holy Trinity. Bigotry has no place in a loving humble Christian life.
108.✗.✗.55 on 2013-03-14 18:34:41
Catholicism is the unbroken link to St Peter and Catholics are the original Christians . The bigotry in questioning if Catholics are Christians is truly astonishing. The Catholic Creed believes our salvation comes through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection and in devotion and obedience to God commandments. .We believe iin one God, the Holy Trinity, God the Father, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit. We not adore the Virgin Mary as God. Mary has a very special place because she was chosen by God to be the mother of Our Lord Jesus. Her life as a human being is an example of purity, devotion and obedience to God. We also have a responsibility to live the Christian faith in our thoughts, words and deeds.

What I love is how even when one partner cheats; Catholics will stay married, live in the same house and sleep in DIFFERENT beds instead of divorce on the grounds of ADULTERY which the bible says is OK!

personally, I'm an Atheist. I read this article because my boyfriend is Catholic. What it seems like to me is that every one should be more accepting, and stop with all the social stigmatism. Things change over time, sometimes, you just need to move along, and I think that there should be a new bible written that reflects the views of a modern society.

It does not surprise me that the majority of comments are posted by "Christians". Christians feel the need to prove their devotion. Catholics needn't defend their pure religious beliefs, as actions speak louder than words.
105.✗.✗.13 on 2013-02-18 19:42:46
Posting negative comments on purpose will not change anybody's faith. However, someday you will realize and wish you could take those words back. When we are tought that only God can Judge; in your posting, it would mean that you know the truth but crave the dirsuption. Is ok, the more you do it the more chances you get to realize what you are doing. PR

This article was very very bias against Catholicism... Please do not believe things like Catholics worship saints.... We acknowledge their amazing faith here on earth... The great things they have done in Gods name.. And ask them just like you would ask ANY friend... To pray for us.. Please please don't misunderstand the things we believe in. Please feel free to email me and ask questions about Catholicism. You'll be so surprised at the truth. Email me at nasanchez2010@gmail.com thank you

If you really read and understand it, almost any Religion has adopted something from it. The Bible tells us to go and preach on to others, it is our duty. Catholics, Christians, etc.. don't do that. We go, we sit, we listen..I'm cured. Ok. Again, we (Christians, Catholics; The Church) were born after crucifiction. (which we pushed for it and oopps! He was the one ) Just be careful how you view your faith.

I'M A ROMAN CATHOLIC THEREFORE I AM A CHRISTIAN. WE WERE THE FIRST CHRISTIANS AND WE STILL ARE CHRISTIANS! BUT THERE ARE MANY SUBSETS TO CHRISTIANITY.
203.✗.✗.152 on 2012-09-20 22:29:51
This debate just makes me sad. I am a Christian, my bottom line is do you believe in Jesus and do you follow him? Beyond that wouldn't it be more fruitful to find and talk to people who havent found Jesus rather than debate the differences between denominations? Most of this sounds like you are trying to one up each other! Historically we used to be one, then we broke off into different denominations. It doesn't matter what you call the original church we should all be acting like Christ FOLLOWERS! You don't have to agree on everything but there is no reason to get nasty. Look up instead of around........
174.✗.✗.232 on 2012-09-19 02:36:02
I view things as they happened. I'm sure if you would tell your story to a person that lived in the 1400, you would sound just like you view the bible today. No way you can go to one place and buy all your food, heat things up without using wood and travel from place to place by sliding on a vehicle that can run over 50MPH. Let's Not even talk about flying... I wonder how your book would sound. Science fiction, magic, etc...your story, your choice. Glad to know you visit this site, keep searching or keep course. Either way, not everyone can be guided as you present it. If the bible can help, let us believe.

Why is it that all of you religious fanatics need"god" to be good people, can't you just be good on your own. Isn't the fact that we're all human enough for you to be kind to others. I don't believe in god and yet I try and help anyone I can, is that evil in your eyes simply because I don't believe in an all powerful being that was discovered back when we thought the world was flat and half the size it truly is? Stop taking the easy way out, just because it's hard to believe that there is no all powerful being and nothing but the ground waiting when you die, doesn't mean its wrong, focus on making your life and the lives of people you care about here and now good, not your after life
99.✗.✗.21 on 2012-08-20 17:21:57
Agreed, especially since you have certain ways you have to live life to get into heaven, most normal people call those rules
99.✗.✗.21 on 2012-08-20 17:09:28
Christianity is religion by your own definition, you all say religion is rules. Well praying to just one man doesn't make it less of a rule, hence christianity=religion

Our mission in life is not to convinced people that already beleive (we are an easy audience) is speaking to or showing people that don't care and don't listen, and help them make a difference in their lives. All of this without taking any claim to it. As we all know, you give without expecting and you give with the right hand without letting your left hand know what you gave. To me, that is the real challenge !! Again, are any of us prepare to confront the world with our beliefs. Writing about it does not make our faith stronger than any other Christian that shares similar values. My opinion, anybody that speaks of God or Jesus has a good foundation and the potential of living with great values. We keep raising the tolerance level when it comes to rules of life. The Bible will tell you what is right and what is wrong. The people in the wrong always hide behind "God loves everyone the same" which is true but he also does not punish everyone the same. I am always afraid of saying the wrong thing or perhaps being to strong about the way I interpret the Bible today and speak of it; it seems the older I get and the more I mature I become, the interpretation that I once thouht to be right, has changed. I do not want to change someone beliefs. I concentrate on the part of being afraid of God if you step ouside of the guidelines of your beleifs. The Church crucified Jesus and called him a fraud and here we are. (they were wrong but needed to happen) Their interpretaion of the scriptures at that time did not allow for them to beleive in anything else. It is known that Jesus was Jewish, is it wrong that we are not ? Say to yourself, I beleive in this so strongly that I am willing to listen and help you understand your true beleifs. You are standing on a solid ground that no one can shake you off of it. Don't confront it as if you are about to lose your own faith. Sorry for the long message... just my opinion.

Wrong again people. The Orthodox Christian religion is the original Christian church -they were documented as early as 450 AD. The rest of the christian churches INCLUDING the Roman Catholics are regarded as heretics who have lost their way by the Orthodox chuch. Its all there in the history books if you care to read about it.

Is it perhaps the perfect evil plan to have different religions ? Ask yourself, are any of us worthy of his actual presence ? Could there ever be another Moses or Avram without the temptaion to use the powers to make themnself look like a God ? Are any of us prepare to bare such responsibility ? How many miracles did God perform through Moses just so the people would beleive ? Still people questioned and fought Moses on their journey. Is there a difference today ? Why should he have to appear and perform miracles again so he can convice the world. (I don't need it) Will that be enough for us ? Will we make fun of him ? Will the media make a circus out it and convince you or me that in fact it's a joke. (at least no crucifiction this time, right ? ) Perhaps a ragged Man would approach you claiming to be the son of God and you would laugh or send him to a near shelter. Perhaps you feel guilty and feed him for a day and walk away proud to have made a difference. Did you ? Is that what you are supposed to do ? Ask yourself, is anybody prepare to make a point so strongly about their faith that requires and demands God to appear before him ? Who is God at that point ? you or him. Demanding or requesting his presence so you can satisfy your faith. Why do we belive that George Washington ever existed ? we were not there. If there is no Video; it did not happen. Why is the Bible any different than any other History book ? Be careful how you preach or even refer to God and Jesus today, you may wish you could turn back time if you find what you are looking for. Your mission maybe to contact everybody you convinced he did not exist. I have not found one thing where the Bible tells you to do the wrong thing. We have failed in walking the straight line. The only perfect Man that ever walked, we already killed. Read the Bible and take what you can out of it, if you apply it you will fing your true belief. I bet you could even attend any congregation, mass, service, etc and still take what you need out of it. We are all in different stages of life, you will take what you need at the time and that is why you read it over and over or at least attend service, mass, etc. so you can apply it to the stage of life you are in. If Facebook, Twitter and many more companies have taken over the world, why is this so hard ? Just a thought....

Does the bible really teach "FAITH ALONE" doctrine? Which specific verse in the bible can we find justification by “Faith Alone”? How do you explain the following passages in the light of “Justification by Faith ALONE”? 1. For he will repay according to each one's DEEDS: to those who by patiently doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. (Rom 2:6-7) 2. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous in God's sight, but the DOERS of the law who will be JUSTIFIED. (Rom 2:13) 3. What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have WORKS? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have WORKS, is dead. (James 2:14-17) 4. For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good WORKS, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.(Eph 2:10) 5. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good WORK. (2 Tim 3:16-17) 6. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good DEEDS and glorify your heavenly Father. (Mt 5:16) 7. In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my WORK for God. For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has wrought through me to win obedience from the Gentiles, by word and DEED. (Rom 15:17-18) 8. The saying is sure. I desire you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to apply themselves to good DEEDS; these are excellent and profitable to men. (Titus 3:Cool 9. See how a person is justified by WORKS and NOT BY FAITH ALONE. And in the same way, was not Rahab, the harlot, also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by a different route? For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD. (James 2:24-26)

I'm very happy to see so much good news and all the interested people in Jesus. If I may ... just one thing. To the people unsure about God ..... Pray .... Ask .... God, If your realy the one. Reveal yourself to me in a way I will understand. A personal relationship with Jesus ..... is just seconds away.

Catholics believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, in faithfulness to Christ's teaching: Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst. (John 6:35) and also, "For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever." (John 6:55-58)
75.✗.✗.182 on 2012-02-11 09:09:58
Jesus Christ founded his church upon Peter and the apostles, giving Peter (the first Pope) the authority to lead the Church, as we see in the bible: "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in Heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the powers of Hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven, and what you loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven." (Matthew 16:17-19) "Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me." (Luke 10:16)
75.✗.✗.182 on 2012-02-11 08:59:36
Catholics believe that there is one God in three divine persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They also believe that Jesus, the second person in the Holy Trinity, is God and that salvation comes through Him alone.
75.✗.✗.182 on 2012-02-11 08:45:56
Catholics are the first Christians. Christ founded his church upon Peter (the first Pope). Orthodox and Protestant Churches (such as Lutherans, Anglicans, Baptists, Mormons, Jehova's Witnesses, Pentecostals, Methodists, etc.) are all offshoots from the main branch of the Christian church which is the Catholic church.

The very 1st ministers of Christ were the apostles who walked the lands of their known lands. Did they preach and tell the tell of Christ in a ritualistic, boring manner the same way and still is done during a mass under the then roman empires watchful eye or did they preach and tell the tell with feeling, spirit, holding nothing back?

Doesn't the word, "Catholic" mean "Christianity in general" in Greek? "in general" to me says it's just a overview. I was brought up in the Catholic church but I now go to non-denomination Christian based, thorough Bible reading/studying,etc..church. One actually feels the spirit. People raise their hands in the air because they feel it. Not because the priest tells them to raise their hands. To be honest I get a lot more out of a Christian based church. Nothing wrong with a Catholic mass, it's a good place for a nap.

The title "Catholicism vs Christianity" is misinformed. Catholics are Christians; therefore you can not saw there is a difference in the two. There are differences in Catholicism and Protestantism; which I guess is what the was intended to be. If you are going to try to compare things, learn what you are in fact attempting to compare and be fully informed before you confuse more people.

Relgion is man made with a political motivation, it's been manipulated throughout the centuries to control the masses. It's what you believe, there is no right or wrong because no one knows for sure, none of us was around then. Faith and compassion for your fellow human being is what we all should live by.

when my mother was a young teen in mexico, she didnt believe in god. she told me that sometimes a big black dog would watch stare at her all night, it terrified her and even thought of suicide, but in her dreams jesus came to save her from the demon. jesus show her things like how the world would end and that you must know jesus before you can know god. it just proved to me that religion doesnt matter, only faith does. ive sided with being a faithful chirstian than a religious catholic.

I would hope that all who read this can agree that we try to be as Christ-like as possible, perfect. Although we aren't, we do our best. With that being said, we try to be like Jesus, who while on this earth was called a Christian. Then why would you want to be called anything other than a Christian, i.e. Catholic? Christians are not Catholics and Catholics are not Christians. Christianity is faith in God (a relationship with God), not to be mistaken for religion (a catholic term). Christians go by what the bible says and have no mediator, i.e. the pope. 1 Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Christians dont refer to their pastors as father, as do catholics. Matthew 23:9, "And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven." Being a Christian is not a denomination. Catholicism is a denomination.

Hello Brothers, I am a young Catholic teenager that like most of us, is looking for the right path to God. What I have found in this article, was a very strong blow to me. I have never thought about religion and faith like today. According to you guys, Catholics are Christians, but Christians are not Catholics. Tradition, Rules, Beliefs, customs are to me the most confusing, but faith isn't. I know we must have faith in the Lord, Love him, and serve him. But religion has become a strong impediment for us and has caused us to not love each other like Jesus told us. Regardless of everything, I have faith in God that some one will help me clear my mind, and focus on him, and not the rule. We must not let the rules rule, but let the ruler rule. Catholic? Christians? aren't we the same? I know customs aren't. That is why I ask somebody that is not trying to promote religion, but promote God, to help me. Any help is welcome, but don't let us seperate from each other just because of religion

As a attentant human, observant Christian, curious by stander, and bemused human at the foolish-ness of the human race i'd like to take this moment to point out that catholoicism and christianity are, in fact, the same thing- at the core. The big difference? A pope. Whoah- crazy, so what, some where along the way a group of christians decided to trust one man with more central power over the church- and then down the road, some where peeked in there bible and discovered that there really isn't a pope- and they don't trust central power- or large amounts of power in general. As a community as a whole with a shared goal (spreading the good news to the four corners of the earth) we should shake hands, sign a peace treaty, agree to disagree on certain minorish factors, and become a united body as opposed to waisting valuable energy bickering amongst our selves.

Where your information isn't correct it's skewed. You have so many "differences" labeled, where many of the "differences" are actually the same thing with different words. I refer you to topics like original sin which are both so close in nature that to call them differences is twisting words around. Catholics are Christians... PERIOD. Protestantism (most likely the ENTIRE basis of what you believe is Christian) developed FROM Catholicism. The founder of the original protestant churches Mr. Luther himself was heartbroken to have to leave the Catholic church btw, and his church is based almost entirely on Catholicism, only modified to fix the wrongs he saw at the time (most of which have since been fixed). That being said the line between Catholicism and Protestantism is extremely narrow and your attempt to alienate Catholics is ridiculous, unnecessary, and ignorant. GOOD DAY TO YOU.

It should be noted that the majority of the world's Christians are Catholics. If you take the Catholic Church out of the equation, there is no Christian Church. Christ founded only one church, the Catholic Church. This comparison should be Catholicism vs Protestantism. The very word "Protestant" speaks volumes about the history of this sect of Christianity. Protestants were disgruntled Catholics who left the Church and refused to acknowledge the primacy of St. Peter who Christ appointed to lead his Church on earth. Protestants keep morphing into countless sects while the one holy Catholic and apostolic Church marches on.

First, Catholics are Christians...so i think what the title needs to be is protestants vs. Catholics. Secondly, the information on Catholics was very general and in some cases completely wrong. If anyone has questions about any faith, its best to contact a clergy person of that faith...dont take anyone else's opinion because its probably biased, like mine, I'm passionately Catholic.

I do not believe the person who put this together is Catholic, a lot of the info on here has been water down and the Christian list had more info then the Catholics. You should really do your research.

To 68.98.10.158, The article clearly states that Catholics are Christians. How much clearer would you want it to get? It's a wiki so you can improve the article if you think you can do better. And all articles on the site are of the format X vs. Y, not just this one.

minds? The facts are overwhelming, undeniable and speak louder than words. The plain and simple truth is as follows: all Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholic. Just as all Esicoplaleans and Presbyterians are Christians, but not all Christians are Esicoplalean or Presbyterian. Period. I take real issue with the way the author has separted and positioned Catholicism againt Christianity by using the term, “versus.” This is not a war among combatants or a boxing match among opponents. The context for comparison is not at all appropriate and poorly written at best. We as Christians must start to focus on our vast similarties, not on our small differences.

Are Catholics Christian? Answer: Are the United States American? Not only are Catholics 100-percent Christian in every way, they are the world’s original Christians. In other words, the Protestant, Baptist, Evangelical & non-denominational churches are all derived from Catholicism. With 1.2 billion members, Catholicism is by far the largest religious denomination in the world. This is fitting considering the actual meaning of the word “catholic” is universal. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem is globally considered to be the epicenter of Christianity and is believed to be the very site where Jesus died and ascended to heaven. The Holy Sepulchre is shared by six denominations: Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox, Armenian Apostolic, Coptic Orthodox, Ethiopian Orthodox and Syriac Orthodox. So, who are American-based Evangelicals & Baptists to argue that Catholics are not Christians – with heresy in their voices and hostile accusation in their hearts & min

first of all, all of you who say that you are great Christians stop judging other religions. How can you spout all of these intense Christians beliefs and then say anyone who disagrees with you is wrong. Doesn't seem very Christian like to me. And secondly, Catholics do not pray TO Mary. We ask Mary to pray for us like you would ask anyone else to pray for you. Stop being ignorant and saying Catholics are the cause of all evil, becasue I know it's hard to believe, but we believe in Jesus Christ also, and amazingly enough, we ARE Christians.

And as for 75.32.177.105, the problem with Catholics is that you say "Catholicism is the 'original' Christianity and Jesus appointed Peter as the first pope", but you have no scriptural defense for it. The words "Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my father which is in heaven. And I say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock will I build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" do not prove that Catholicism is the original church, there is supposed to be an infallible head of the church who is the equivalent of Christ on Earth, and the first one was Peter. There is NO WAY that THREE SENTENCES proves all of that! The only thing that verse says is the father revealed to Peter that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God, and the faith that Jesus is the son of the living God is the rock on which he built his church (which, sorry to disappoint you deceived deceivers, is not the Catholic church.

I think it is just common sense. Does it really make sense for the Creator of the Universe to come down here leave the keys to heaven to some MAN? Wow! Is He really going to create every atom in the Universe and leave everything to some MAN that he made. My hope and trust is not in MAN. I could go on and on but, I just have to laugh and feel sad at the same time that people really believe Jesus did this.

Throughout ages as recorded centuries ago, during the Inquisition, The French St. Bartholemy Massacre, the long standing violent confrontations continuing today between irish catholics and protestants and more recenty, during the modern day butchery of the Bosnian Cleansing, organized religion has shown no mercy to its devotees. It's very obvious when you read the many comments here that we all crave a very personal relationship with God. He knows where your heart lies. No one else needs to justify your faith in Him but Him. It's when we all have this egotistical need to show others that our "church" is better than theirs that we come dangerously close to the same rebellious and homicidal tendencies of years past when missionaries, forced their morally failed dogma upon noble "savages" who never saw themselves lesser children of God before they covered their nakedness.

That sort of thinking is what started New Age, the growig masacre of religion as I see it. There's a difference between Catholicism not making sense to me and Christianity not making sense to you, atheists ADMIT that you don't believe the bible, Atheists aren't pretending to be God-fearing people, therefore Atheists are not hypocrites. Catholicism practices no REAL fear of God and is a religion built on tradition instead of a faith built on scripture, and they claim to believe the bible and be Christians, but almost every aspect of the Catholic Church contradicts the bible, therefore they are hypocrites. Prostitutes have better chances of going to heaven than hypocrites.
99.✗.✗.61 on 2010-03-03 00:50:36
Hey 76.x.x.86 All religions have elements that other people find hard to believe. Faith is a personal matter. There is no point telling Catholics that their beliefs don't make sense to you. For atheists, the whole story about Jesus is nothing more than an urban legend that grew around an influential man. So your belief in Christ makes as much sense to me as Catholicism does to you. Let's just all get along without trying to force our beliefs on others.
Ashwin on 2010-03-01 03:17:13
And to say that the Holy Spirit abides in an earthly object is BLASPHEMING THE HOLY GHOST. The moral to this protracted comment is: the Catholic Church was not headed by Peter, it evolved FROM the perverted Christian Church, which BECAME perverted after the death of Paul and Peter. The reason the Bible was kept out of the hands of the common man up until the last two centuries, is because the church feared that people would find no foundation for Catholicism(the truth) and the truth was considered misinterpretation. They later realized that they had the people so blinded that they would justify Catholicism no matter how much they read the bible, so they FINALLY let it be translated into common tongue...along with three paragraphs of the pope's doctrine to go with ever ONE VERSE.
76.✗.✗.86 on 2010-02-28 20:41:55
Adding on to my first comment: even if I am wrong, yes Peter was a rock of the church, and Peter DOES mean stone in Greek, but about five verses down on that same page Jesus said to this new "infallible pope" "Get ye behind me Satan, for thou desire the things of this world, instead of the things of the kingdom of God." And let's not forget "Let God be true and EVERY MAN A LIAR." No man is infallible, and the pope IS a man, even though you think he is Christ's representation. Let me know when you find where Jesus said "And henceforth, after I am gone, there shall be an infallible man in my seat until I return again, and he shall have dominion over all the church" or anything even remotely CLOSE to that. As for your statues and crucifixes: "Thou shall not make any graven image, or likeness of anything that is in heaven above...." And last time I checked there was nowhere in the bible that says that the virgin Mary was "full of grace."
76.✗.✗.86 on 2010-02-28 20:34:44
Catholics are all the same... you get defensive as soon as anyone says that there is a gap in your story, and you say "you don't even know what Catholics believe" or "your just a deceived moron, Catholicism is the original Christian church and you will realize it someday." No scripture except for "Jesus proclaimed Peter the pope when he said 'blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona, for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto you, but the spirit... for thou art Peter, and upon THIS rock will I build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Except you say 'thou art Peter, and YOU are the rock on which I will build my church." Here's a newsflash: you have been deceived by your priest and have misinterpreted this scripture. He said THIS ROCK, not YOU. I believe the rock is the belief that Christ is the saviour of mankind and the only begotten son of God. But even if I am wrong, Peter was a pretty big part of the church, can anyone deny it? Catholic or Christian?
76.✗.✗.86 on 2010-02-28 20:26:02
I grew up Catholic went to Catholic school but decided to be non denominational Christian. I for one do not believe I need to confess to a man nor do I believe that the pope is infallible. That being said I am bothered by the attitude of how openly critical some Christian parishes can be towards Catholicism, I have been in services where it amounts to being a Catholic bash and that I believe is against the tenants of Christ's teachings. This I have witnessed on several occasions but never have experienced it in a Catholic service. So who is correct is a matter of opinion. You may think you are equipped with the truth and quote scripture.....but both sides can do it.......it boils down to faith why nit pick? Let's concentrate on what both sides believe ....Try to be like Christ....and we are most like Christ when we love especially unto those who have wronged us and when we forgive! Leave the judging up to God.
76.✗.✗.253 on 2010-02-20 06:36:57
Yes! Definitely read Romans 5:8-9! Right on! Something you catholics should think about. Your religion prays to mary. In the bible Jesus said, "No-one comes to the father except through me" Now, what he didn't say was, "Pray to Mary" or "Go to an ordinary guy dressed in a robe save you" YOU CAN PRAY TO GOD DIRECTLY! By praying to mary, you add an unnecessary step to prayer. Mary was a great woman, and Jesus' earthy mother, not a divine figure to be prayed to.
24.✗.✗.31 on 2010-02-14 02:22:40
i agree with a lot of the comments I have read. Catholics at my school are some of the worst behaved, annoying kids in school. If catholics are so holy and christ like, why don't they show it? On the contrary, Christians, like me, at my school don't have anything to do with the stuff catholics do. And about one of the ?'s below, How do you know Peter was the first pope? Do you believe it just because you were raised that way or because you actually know? How do you KNOW that Peter's body is buried under the Basilica in Italy? Those may just be claims.
24.✗.✗.31 on 2010-02-14 01:54:44
This site is basically the blind leading the blind by causing confusion to those who dont know the difference as it is obviously apparent that the author is not either catholic or part of the christian religion. For better results, read the source of divine knowledge, the Bible. Romans 5:8-9 is a good place to start.
74.✗.✗.119 on 2010-02-12 05:04:46
CATHOLICS ARE CHRISTIANS! Where do you people get this stuff? In fact, Catholicism is the original Christianity. Ever heard of Jesus' Apostle Peter? Jesus himself appointed Peter to be the "rock" upon which Christ would build his church. And you know what? Peter became the first leader of the CATHOLIC church.

But I think Catholics can be full of crap sometimes. I'm not saying that aren't any Christians aren't hypocrites sometime but if you want o be saved become a Christian. homosexualality is a sin, just like stealing, coveting, murdering, and so forth. God hates sin, but not the sinner. He came for the sinner not for saved,or the rich but for the poor. If you are not saved when the lord returns you will be left behind. That is all unsaved people of the world; catholics, protestant, orthadoxes and so on and so forth. John 3: 5-7 tells it all.

Catholics are Christians. Some of the ideas that this pages gives is bias and wrong. There are things on here that are wrong - if you don't know the faith please, please don't write about it. Catholics are Christians but not all Christians are Catholics. Who wrote this also didn't do enough research into the branches of what all the Catholic faith offers in male positions. Men can have positions such as priests, permanent deacons, deacons, monks, brothers, friars, bishops, pope, while also including for both sexes things like Sunday school teachers, youth minister, and many, many other positions. Also, Catholics belief that Catholicism is derived from the Jewish faith - Catholics didn't just appear out of no-where. Please do not write about something without doing correct research into both sides of the topic. I respect your views and your beliefs but please don't write about someone elses faith without proper knowledge.

Love God and your neighbor as yourself is a process requiring a person to know himself, to know why he re-enacts, recreates his life in patterns wasting energy, separating himself from his true nature and from God. Gospel of Thomas says if you know what is inside you it can help you; if you don't know what is inside you it can kill you. Christ came to the earth, sacrificed from deity to mankind, in order to lead us, instruct us to the truth. When mankind murdered Christ, God through Christ sent the Holy Spirit to counsel us, and to send us to teachers, counselors, physicians of the soul to teach us the non violent kingdom of God is Gtotally separate from the vilolent kindom of man. Whenever the spoken or written word deviates from that principle, whenever it separates us from the non violent God it's not from the Holy Spirit; when it connects to God, moves to make us whole it is of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer for Trust in Jesus

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

Teach Me to Pray

Lord, I know not what I ought to ask of Thee; Thou only knowest what I need; Thou lovest me better than I know how to love myself. O Father! Give to Thy child that which he himself knows not how to ask. I dare not ask either for crosses or consolations; I simply present myself before Thee, I open my heart to Thee. Behold my needs which I know not myself; see and do according to Thy tender mercy. Smite, or heal; depress me, or raise me up; I adore all Thy purposes without knowing them; I am silent; I offer myself in sacrifice; I yield myself to Thee; I would have no other desire than to accomplish Thy will. Teach me to pray. Pray Thyself in me.

The Eternity of God's Love

O Lord, you have made us very small, and we bring our years to an end like a tale that is told. Help us to remember that beyond our brief day is the eternity of your love.

Watch, O Lord

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake,
or watch, or weep tonight,
and give your angels and saints
charge over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ,
rest your weary ones,
bless your dying ones,
soothe your suffering ones,
pity your afflicted ones
shield your joyous ones.

And all for your love's sake.
Amen.

Prayer for Strength in Old Age

O Lord our God, under the shadow of Thy wings let us hope. Thou wilt support us, both when little and even to gray hairs. When our strength is of Thee, it is strength; but, when our own, it is feebleness. We return unto Thee, O Lord, that from their weariness our soul may rise towards Thee, leaning on the thing which Thou has created, and passing on to Thyself, who hast wonderfully made them; for with Thee is refreshment and true strength. Amen.

Blessing for Many Occasions

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

How Great Is Your Goodness

How great is your goodness, dear Lord!
Blessed are you for ever!
May all created things praise you, O God,
for loving us so much that we can truthfully speak
of your fellowship with mankind, even in this earthly exile;
and however virtuous we may be,
our virtue always depends on your great warmth
and generosity, dear Lord.
Your bounty is infinite.
How wonderful are your works!

Your Love and Your Grace

Take, O Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding and my will; all that I have and possess. You have given them to me; to you, O Lord, I restore them. All things are yours: Dispose of them according to your will. Give me your love and your grace; for this is enough for me.

Nighttime Prayer

My God, I love You with all my heart. I thank You for having kept me safe this day. Pardon me the evil I have done, and accept the good I have done. Take care of me while I sleep and deliver me from all danger. May Your grace be always with me and with all my loved ones. Amen.

Prayer to Overcome Sin

O everlasting God, let the light of Thine eternity now fall upon my passing days.
O holy God, let the light of thy perfect righteousness fall upon my sinful ways.
O most merciful God, let the light of Thy love pierce to the most secret corners of my heart and overcome the darkness of sin within me.

Luther's Evening Prayer

My Heavenly Father, I thank You, through Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son, that You have protected me, by Your grace. Forgive, I pray, all my sins and the evil I have done. Protect me, by Your grace, tonight. I put myself in your care, body and soul and all that I have. Let Your holy angels be with me, so that the evil enemy will not gain power over me. Amen.

Give Ear, O Lord, to My Prayer

Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all day long. Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my cry of supplication. In the day of my trouble I call on you, for you will answer me.

Prayer for Forgiveness

Forgive me my sins, O Lord; forgive me the sins of my youth and the sins of mine age, the sins of my soul and the sins of my body, my secret and my whispering sins, the sins I have done to please myself and the sins I have done to please others. Forgive those sins which I know, and the sins which I know not; forgive them, O Lord, forgive them all of Thy great goodness. Amen

prayer of Confession

God of hope and safety, like sheep who go astray, we have wandered from your paths of life and light. We have heard the Shepherd's voice calling us by name, but we have turned instead to our own way. Show us your tender mercy; restore us in the security of your fold. Lead us back to still waters, seat us again at your bounteous table. Fill us with your Spirit, that we might bear glad witness to your saving mercy, revealed to us in the Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Love Your Enemies

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God…But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

With all my heart I long for Thee,
Most firmly I believe in Thee,
Most truthfully I hope in Thee,
Most ardently I love Thee.
Then, come, O GOD
Come to me.
Amen.

Prayer for Vocations

O God, Who wills not the death of a sinner, but rather that he be converted and live, grant, we beseech Thee through the intercessions of the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin and all the Saints an increase of laborers for Thy Church, fellow laborers with Christ to spend and consume themselves for souls through the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in Unity of the Holy Spirit world without end.
Amen.

Prayer for Vocations

Holy and provident Father, You are the Lord of the vineyard and the harvest and You give each a just reward for their work. In Your design of love, You call men and women to work with You for the salvation of the world. We thank You for Jesus Christ, Your living Word, who has redeemed us from our sins and is among us to assist us in our poverty. Guide the flock to which You have promised possession of the Kingdom. Send new workers into Your harvest and set in the hearts of pastors faithfulness to Your plan of salvation, perseverance in their vocation and holiness of life.

God , Who on the shores of the Sea of Galilee called the apostles, and made them the foundation of the Church and bearers of Your Gospel, in our day, sustain Your people on its journey. Give courage to those whom You call to follow You in the priesthood and the consecrated life, so that they may enrich God’s field with the wisdom of Your Word. Make them docile instruments of Your love in everyday service of their brothers and sisters.

Spirit of Holiness, Who pour out Your gifts on all believers and, especially, on those called to be Christ’s ministers, help young people to discover the beauty of the divine call. Teach them the true way of prayer, which is nourished by the Word of God. Help them to read the signs of the times, so as to be faithful interpreters of Your Gospel and bearers of salvation.

GOD help us to be open to Your Word,Lord, so that, having been welcomed and meditated upon, it may grow in our hearts. Help us to live like You the beatitudes of believers and to dedicate ourselves with unceasing charity to evangelizing all those who seek Your Son. Grant that we may serve every person, becoming servants of the Word we have heard, so that remaining faithful to it we may find our happiness in living it.
Amen.In Christ Jesus name.Amen.

Prayer for Travelers

O God You have given us a rough road to travel, but You have not left us alone. You guided our father, Abraham, through a sun-blazed and scorching desert to a land that was his only in promise, a land that he could lay claim to only by faith. You led Your chosen people, the forerunner of Your Church, away from a slave country to the land of promise, a land of promise, a land whose enjoyment was not easily won, whose fulfillment demanded the rigorous exercise of justice, the dangerous pursuit of freedom. You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, accompanied by simply comprehending followers, on the Road to Jerusalem, where He dashed their hopes for an earthly kingdom by dying as a criminal on a cross. In His Resurrection and Glory is our only pledge of life. May Your Spirit move in us as we depart on our journeys to familiar places of work or study, to unknown regions of conflict or danger, to visit the sick, to seek needed relaxation. May He direct us in our quest for meaning, peace, and love. May Your Spirit breathe into us an effective desire to serve all whom we meet on our way to our eternal encounter with You. Strengthen us. Fill our eyes with hope, and our hearts with loving concern for our neighbor. Raise us up if we fall. Urge us on if we are tempted to stop, and welcome us at journey’s end with the fatherly embrace that You have reserved for all who faithfully seek to do Your Holy Will.
Amen.

Prayer "Teach Us To Love"

Lord, we thank Thee for all the love
that has been given to us, for the love
of family and friends, and above all
for Your love poured out upon us every
moment of our lives in steadfast glory.

Forgive our unworthiness. Forgive the
many times we have disappointed those
who love us, have failed them, wearied
them, saddened them.
Failing them we have failed You,
and hurting them we have wounded our Saviour who for love's sake died for us.
Lord, have mercy on us, and forgive.

You do not fail those who love you.
You do not change nor vary.
Teach us Your own constancy in love.
Your humility, selflessness and generosity.

Look in pity on our small and tarnished loving, protect, foster and strengthen it, that it may be less unworthy to be offered to
You and to Your children.
O Light of the world, teach us how to love.
Amen.

Prayer for the Church

We pray Thee, Almighty and Eternal God, Who through Jesus Christ hast revealed Thy glory to all nations, to preserve the works of Thy Mercy, that Thy Church, being spread through the whole world, may continue with unchanging faith in the confession of Thy Name, through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer "Everyday I need you Lord..."

Every day I need You Lord
But this day especially,
I need some extra strength
To face what ever is to be.

This day more than any day
I need to feel You near,
To fortify my courage
And to overcome my fear.

By myself, I cannot meet
The challenge of the hour,
There are times when humans help,
But we need a higher power

To assist us bear what must be borne,
and so dear Lord, I pray -
Hold on to my trembling hand
And be near me today.
Amen.

My Daily Prayer

O my God, I place my trust and confidence in You, Who will reward the good and punish the wicked. I believe in You and accept everything You have taught and revealed.
I believe that in one God there are three Divine Persons- God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
I believe that God became Man without ceasing to be God. He is Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, the Redeemer of human race. He died on the cross for my salvation and eternal happiness. O my God, give me a strong faith. Help me to believe with lively faith. O my God, all-good and all merciful, I sincerely hope to be saved. Help me to do all that is necessary to gain eternal salvation. I have committed many sins in my life, but now I turn away from them. I am sorry, truly sorry, for all of them, because I have offended You, my God, Who are all-good, all-perfect, all-holy and all-merciful.
I love You, O my God, with all my heart. Please forgive me for having offended You. I promise that, with Your help, I will never offend You again.
My God, have mercy on me.
Amen.

"Thanksgiving for Mary, Our Mother "Prayer

O God , Divine Master, I thank and bless Your most merciful Heart for having given us Mary most holy as our Mother, Teacher and Queen. From the cross You placed us all in her hands. You gave her a great heart, much wisdom and immense power. May all mankind know her, pray for her! May all permit themselves to be led by her to You, the Savior of mankind! I placed myself in her hands, as You placed Yourself. With this Mother I want to live now, in the hour of my death, and for all eternity. In Christ Jesus name.
Amen.

Prayers for Priests 1

O God , I pray for Your faithful and fervent priests; for Your unfaithful and tired priests; for Your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for Your tempted priests; for Your lonely priests; for Your young priests; for Your dying priests; for the souls of Your priests in purgatory. But above all I recommend to You the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me; the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way.
O GOD , keep them all close to Your heart, and bless them abundantly in time and eternity.
.In Jesus name.Amen.

Prayer for Priests 2

Father, Son and Holy Spirit, hear the prayers we offer for our
priests. Let them know clearly the work that You are calling them to do.
Grant them every grace to answer Your call with courage, love, and
lasting dedication to Your will.
We ask Mary's intercession as their loving mother.
Amen.

Prayer for a Deceased Priest

O God, Thou didst raise Thy servant, N., to the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ, according to the Order of Melchisedech, giving him the sublime power to offer the Eternal Sacrifice, to bring the Body and Blood of Thy Son Jesus Christ down upon the altar, and to absolve the sins of men in Thine own Holy Name. We beseech Thee to reward his faithfulness and to forget his faults, admitting him speedily into Thy Holy Presence, there to enjoy forever the recompense of his labors. This we ask through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer for Priests in Time of Uncertainty

Lord GOD ,
as you gazed down from the Cross in Your bitter agony upon the beloved and faithful Apostle, St. John, Your anguish was increased by the desertion of the traitor and the other Apostles.
In spite of this desertion, Your Love embraced them and all those consecrated men who would forsake You.
We, therefore confidently beseech You now
to rain abundant grace on shepherds who have gone astray.
Where there is present groping uncertainty,
let there be light;
where there is present overshadowing gloom,
let there be joy;
where there is present mounting struggle,
let there be peace.
Guide, O Lord, the straying shepherds back to the fold, especially Father ........................
and assist them to walk surely and lovingly in Your sight, for only in union with You
will the shepherd find true light, joy and peace.
Give to all priests inspiration in time of doubt,
patience in time of adversity, fortitude in time of weakness, that with Your love ever pressing them on, they may lead others ever closer to You.In JESUS name.
Amen.

Prayer for Priests and for a Holy Church

O my God, I beg You on behalf of the whole Church: Grant it love and the light of Your Spirit and give power to the words of priests so that hardened hearts might be brought to repentance and return to You, O Lord.
Lord, give us holy priests; You, Yourself maintain them in holiness. O Divine and Great High Priest, may the power of Your Mercy accompany them everywhere and protect them from the devil's traps and snares, which are continually being set for the souls of priests. May the power of Your Mercy, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests, for You can do all things. I ask You, Jesus, for a special blessing and for light for the priests before whom I will make my confessions throughout my lifetime. In Jesus name.
Amen.

Prayer for Priests, For Bishops, Deacons,
Brothers, Sisters, Lay Ministers and Seminarians

Lord GOD , hear our prayer for the spiritual renewal of bishops, priests, deacons, brothers, sisters, lay ministers and seminarians, especially those of our own diocese. We praise you for giving their ministry to the Church. In these days, renew them with the gifts of Your Spirit.

You once opened the Holy Scriptures to Your disciples when You walked on this earth. Now renew Your ordained and chosen ones with the truth and power of Your Word.

In Eucharist you gave Your disciples renewed life and hope. Nourish Your consecrated ones with Your Own Body and Blood. Help them to imitate in their lives the death and resurrection they celebrate around Your altar.

Give them enthusiasm for the Gospel, zeal for the salvation of all people, courage in leadership and humility in service.

Give them Your love for one another and for all their brothers and sisters in You. For You love them, Lord Jesus and we love and pray for them in Your Holy Name.
Amen.

Prayer to Begin the Day

As morning breaks I think of you, O Lord, and my desire is to serve You joyfully. With gladness, I consecrate this day to Your Sacred Heart, and offer whatever joys and sacrifices may come my way. Thank You for the graces You will send - all the love, all the beauty, and the ways You will answer my prayers. Today, may I love my enemies, and treat others as I would ask to be treated; may I forgive seventy-times-seven and show mercy; may I welcome the prodigal, have compasion for the Samaritan; be a peace-maker and love my neighbor unconditionally. Take all my heart, and mind and strength, O Lord, that this day may be truly lived for Your greater honor and glory and for the salvation of souls.
Amen.

Prayer to Christ The King

GOD , I acknowledge You King of the universe. All that has been created has been made for You. Make full use of Your rights over me. I renew the promises I made in Baptism, when I renounced Satan and all his pomp and works, and I promise to live a good life and to do all in my power to procure the triumph of the rights of God and Your Church. Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You my efforts in order to obtain that all hearts may acknowledge Your Sacred Royalty, and that thus the Kigdom of Your peace may be established throughout the universe. In Christ Jesus name.
Amen.
