Help spare more animals suffering in painful tests!

We've stopped so much misery, and millions of animals have been saved from cruel tests, but there are still places where this goes on: A gentle rabbit is pulled from a barren laboratory cage. Experimenters pour a chemical into her eyes. Still in pain, she is shoved back into a cage and left to suffer, alone. Over the course of weeks, she will likely develop ulcers or lesions on the surface of her eyes. Her eyes may start bleeding. The experimenters take her out of the cage again and kill her. Your gift will help us protect rabbits and other animals from misery, pain, and torment in laboratories.

Will you help birds and other animals?

Despite the existence of far superior non-animal tests and more consumer demand for cruelty-free products than ever before, we still find animals being blinded, poisoned, cut apart, and killed in tests, and each one of them desperately needs our help. when you donate to PETA's Animal Test Challenge, your gift will immediately benefit our campaigns to end cruel and archaic animal tests. Will you please make a donation right now? With the help of decent, compassionate people like you, we're able to work hard to end the absolutely appalling and widespread abuse of animals in laboratories. Our attention-grabbing campaigns show people the ugliness and suffering in those closed facilities that they would otherwise never see and encourage hundreds of thousands of shoppers to take action for animals—and scientists with the PETA International Science Consortium Ltd., of which PETA is a member, are working to make humane, non-animal testing methods the global gold standard. We will not stop making change come about—saving these 100 animals, that 1,000—not while any rabbits, mice, and other animals are still stuck in laboratory cages and enduring excruciating pain. Please support PETA's Animal Test Challenge by donating today.

Thank you for your compassion.

Help animals facing monstrous, deadly experiments

Please don't miss this chance to help animals!

No fiction writer could create a story more horrifying than what animals around the world endure in monstrous new genetic engineering experiments. For a female mouse, the nightmare begins when experimenters inject her with hormones and then cut into her abdomen to rip out her eggs. Other mice will become unwilling surrogates when experimenters surgically implant modified embryos in their wombs. The forced pregnancies in these cruel "Frankenscience" experiments often fail because as few as 1 percent of the animals who are born may carry the genes of interest to experimenters. Those who don't are killed shortly after birth—discarded like laboratory waste. The genetically modified animals who survive past infancy are also doomed. Many suffer with missing eyes or ears, skin ulcers, deformed body parts, deafness, seizures, and sometimes even heart failure.

We have succeeded in ending many kinds of animal experimentation. Now, we must attack this new monster head-on and work to end all abuse of animals in experiments—and your support today will help us do just that. Please donate to "Cut It Out"—PETA's Animal Test Challenge right now. Not only is it hideously cruel to experiment on animals in these ways, it's also bad science because the genes of non-human animals don't act the same way that human genes do, and key biochemical, metabolic, and physiological differences can render entire experiments absolutely useless. Many human-relevant, non-animal methods already exist, while others are in development—and we at PETA are vigorously doing all that we can to promote their use, often having massive success. Many of these innovative, sophisticated tests—including some developed with funding from PETA's international affiliates—rely on human cells and tissues (also known as in vitro methods), advanced computer-modelling techniques (often referred to as in silico models), and studies with human subjects. Unlike experiments on animals, these approaches aren't hindered by differences between species, and in addition to being more ethical, they can also be more cost-efficient—and relevant!

Scientists with PETA's international affiliates are publishing research that shows the effectiveness of animal-free test methods, and they are encouraging governments and companies around the world to adopt these compassionate techniques. Will you please strengthen our work to end the torment of animals in laboratories and promote animal-free testing by donating to PETA's Animal Test Challenge today? Together, we will spare many more animals horrendous suffering at the hands of experimenters. Thank you for your compassion.

There's important progress to report on protecting animals from painful tests

I hope this e-mail finds you well. I think you will be stunned to read what has happened since I last wrote. Of course, at this moment, we both know that many animals are still cowering in metal cages, dreading the sound of the laboratory door opening and the next worker entering to subject them to more painful experiments. The animals' plight, their fear, is almost unimaginable—but PETA and our international affiliates are making absolutely fantastic progress toward stopping their suffering and showing caring people how they can help, too. Not only do we expose the abuse and neglect that experimenters try desperately to hide so that people know what to support and what not to, we are also actively promoting modern, non-animal research methods that can replace animal tests. Thanks to your support, PETA is making a difference:

We make sure that corporations realize they cannot get away with conducting or funding horrific tests on gentle mice and rats and then killing them—all so that they can make marketing claims about their products. In fact, already, PETA and our international affiliates have persuaded corporate giants like General Mills, Nissin Foods Holdings (the owner of Top Ramen noodles), Riken Vitamin, Suntory Holdings (which owns Jim Beam, Maker's Mark, and other beverages), and others to end tests on animals. When the world learned that carmaker Volkswagen (VW) had funded an experiment in which macaque monkeys were locked in chambers and forced to inhale diesel fumes for hours, PETA Germany and PETA U.S. launched an international campaign to end this cruelty. It worked! VW agreed never to fund such tests on animals again and to accept PETA affiliates' help. The PETA International Science Consortium—of which PETA is a member—is working to replace hideous inhalation tests on animals by promoting computer modeling and 3-dimensional tissues that mimic realistic human exposure. This will spare countless animals immense suffering in cruel tests every year. After hearing from PETA U.S. scientists, South Korea and Japan have stopped requiring a test in which dogs are poisoned with pesticides over the course of a whole year. These countries join the European Union, Canada, and the United States, which made the same move following detailed discussions with PETA U.S. scientists—sparing the lives of thousands of dogs each year.
Campaigns by PETA and our international affiliates have persuaded—or pushed—nearly every major commercial and cargo airline to stop shipping primates destined for laboratories, sparking a movement so successful that desperate research trade groups are now trying to use legal force to coerce airlines into helping them in their violent business, but we are fighting back.
Most commercial antitoxins are manufactured through an inherently cruel, archaic method that hasn't changed in more than 100 years. In hideous facilities in India, horses and other equines, such as mules, are kept in crowded, filthy conditions so that they can be injected with spider and snake venom and subjected to painful blood draws, over and over again. Following a series of damning inspections, the PETA International Science Consortium began funding a project to develop antitoxins without subjecting any horse to pain, fear, and suffering—and after discussions with PETA India, the Indian government itself urged researchers to develop cruelty-free antivenins.
Together, we're creating real change for all the sensitive beings suffering in laboratories.

Thank you for your compassion and your vital support.

I'll never forget what I've seen in animal laboratories

Your support for PETA's Animal Test Challenge will be MATCHED, going twice as far to help animals.
I've always been interested in animals, and I've dedicated my career to helping them. But nothing prepared me for the horrors I've seen inside animal laboratories. I've seen mice torn apart by cagemates who had been driven insane and made aggressive by the stress of confinement. I've visited laboratories where dogs are experimented on, and I'll never forget the anguished cries of the lonely animals there. I've observed primates imprisoned in cramped, almost barren cages, which have no ropes for them to swing on, and given no opportunity to socialise. They're so desperate for affection that they reach out to passing visitors, hoping for someone – anyone – to stop and notice them. In the coming months, millions of sensitive animals will be locked up in cages and used in cruel, painful experiments. I've seen their misery first hand – and we need to do everything we can to end it.

Will you help birds and other animals?

Today, you have a great opportunity to help. Please donate to "Cut It Out" – PETA's Animal Test Challenge to support our critical work to end experiments on animals. Your generous gift will be matched, up to our £250,000 campaign goal, and will have twice the impact for animals. Before coming to PETA, I worked in an animal laboratory, where my focus was on the welfare of mice. I was tasked with conducting some animal experiments of my own and, often, with dissecting the corpses of the very mice I'd spent weeks observing. Wool would be soaked in fluoroethane and placed in a plastic tub. The mice would then be forced inside, and a colleague would close the lid. As the seconds dragged on, I could hear them scrambling around – and when we finally opened the tub, I'd see that the dead mice were soaked in their own urine and faeces. Those images will forever haunt me. Later, when I became a lecturer on animal behaviour and welfare, I'd often take my students to a nearby laboratory. Even though I would warn them about what they'd see inside, most would still come out shaken and crying. I spent years believing that I could somehow improve animals' lives in their laboratory prisons – but eventually, I realised that the only way to achieve meaningful change for these animals is to get them out of laboratories. That's when I came to work at PETA and dedicated my life to stopping animal tests.

Please strengthen PETA's campaigns to get animals out of laboratories by donating right now – during this special challenge, your impact will be DOUBLED. As PETA's science policy adviser, I work with government and regulatory agencies to help replace animal tests with non-animal methods. My goal is to promote animal-free testing as not only more ethical but also more cost-effective and beneficial for humans. Every day, I work to end archaic tests on animals, including cosmetics tests that are still taking place despite a ban in Europe. More and more companies are appealing regulatory decisions that require animal tests because they understand just how archaic and unreliable those tests are. The PETA International Science Consortium (of which PETA is a member) is supporting these efforts and also promoting and funding the development of cutting-edge technology, such as in vitro methods that use human cells and tissues, to replace the use of animals in experiments.

I'm encouraged by the tremendous progress we're making, but we need funds and resources to keep this vital work moving forward. Will you please make a generous donation right now to help end animal suffering in laboratories? Your gift today will bring us closer to a day when no animal is tormented and killed in a laboratory. Thank you for your compassion. https://secure.peta.org.uk/page/30200/donate/1?ea.tracking.id=C18JEATZA2DXXE&ea.url.id=1532845

No cat deserves to be miserable and mutilated

Like all cats, Double Trouble deserved a life of care and affection. But instead, she endured many, many months of terrible misery. Experimenters implanted metal coils in her eyes and screwed a bolt into the top of her head. She then developed infections at the surgery sites, and her face became partially paralysed. When she became too ill to continue and the experiment failed, she was killed. The experimenters repeatedly tormented Double Trouble … kept her caged and suffering … and then decapitated her corpse to dissect her brain – out of curiosity. Right now, countless animals like Double Trouble are suffering in cruel experiments in the UK and around the world. But there's something you can do to help them. By making a generous gift to PETA today, you can do twice as much to stop cruel experiments on cats and other animals who are suffering in laboratory cages. Every gift made by our 31 October deadline will be doubled, up to our £250,000 goal!

Horrors like those that Double Trouble faced aren't limited to one laboratory. As you read this e-mail, terrified cats, dogs, monkeys, and other animals are being abused and killed in laboratories around the globe. They cower in fear, enduring the pain of invasive surgeries, implants, infections, and worse – and they will pay with their lives for the rotten "science" behind these rotten tests. Thanks to attention-grabbing campaigns by PETA and our international affiliates, millions of people have learned about the cruelty that animals experience in laboratories and have joined the calls to end the abuse. The movement to stop deadly experiments on animals is growing, and we need your help to make it stronger than ever! Donate to PETA's Animal Test Challenge and help us stop the suffering of animals like Double Trouble. Remember, your gift today will be MATCHED pound for pound to have twice the impact – so please give as generously as you can. Thank you for your compassion.

Exposed: Horses Abused for Their Blood

Please support PETA's and DOUBLE your impact!

Please support PETA's Animal Test Challenge and DOUBLE your impact! In a crowded, filthy enclosure in India, a malnourished horse trembles in fear as workers with large-bore needles approach her to extract large volumes of her blood. She's forced to endure the same excruciatingly frightening and painful process multiple times each month, but her suffering doesn't end there. Day after day, she's kept tightly tied up, barely able to move, and denied the opportunity to roam, graze freely, or even stand on floors that aren't covered with waste. This horse is just one of thousands of equines imprisoned around the world who are right now treated as nothing more than living incubators for drug companies. But today, you have an opportunity to help stop their suffering. Donate to PETA's Animal Test Challenge right now to prevent horses, dogs, cats, and other animals from being hideously abused for drug manufacturing and painful experiments. All gifts received by 31 October, up to our £250,000 goal, will be matched to support our work against animal experimentation.

Experts authorised by the Animal Welfare Board of India, including PETA India and affiliated scientists and veterinarians, inspected 10 facilities that extract blood from horses, donkeys, and mules to produce drugs such as antitoxins and antivenins – and they discovered rampant abuse and neglect almost everywhere they turned. Many of the animals were fearful and anxious, and they often suffered from hoof disease, malnourishment, infections, parasites, and eye conditions. Even dying horses were denied the veterinary care they desperately needed! The abuse found at hideous facilities like these is horrific, but with help from kind people like you, we can do even more to end it. Will you please support PETA's work for horses, donkeys, and all other animals abused in crude and painful experiments? After PETA India revealed the misery endured by horses, mules, and donkeys who are bled over and over, thousands of caring people called for Indian authorities to deny or revoke drug-production facilities' licences to use animals. A council under India's Department of Biotechnology then announced funding for research to develop animal-free antitoxins. As a result, we're making progress, but more action is needed to stop the abuse of horses and other animals who are suffering in these secretive facilities. That's why the PETA International Science Consortium Ltd., an organisation that coordinates the scientific and regulatory expertise of PETA and its affiliates, is funding research into the manufacturing of animal-free antitoxins for diphtheria – and promoting the use of modern methods that won't harm a single horse or any other animal.

In addition to being more humane than animal-derived substances, laboratory-made antitoxins can also help prevent serious illnesses that humans may experience as side effects of being dosed with antitoxins made from animals' blood. Please donate to PETA's Animal Test Challenge today to support the crucial work that's protecting animals from misery in laboratories and other hellish facilities. Together, we can and must spare horses and other animals immense suffering inside laboratories, blood farms, and other dismal facilities. They have no one else to help them. Thank you in advance for that help and for your compassion.

Luke 5
King James Bible

Jesus Calls His First Disciples
(Matthew 4:18-22; Matthew 13:47-52; Mark 1:16-20; John 1:35-42)

1And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. 4Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 7And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. 8When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. 9For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: 10And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. 11And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

The Leper's Prayer
(Leviticus 14:1-32; Matthew 8:1-4; Mark 1:40-45)

12And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 13And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. 14And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 15But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 16And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

Jesus Heals a Paralytic
(Matthew 9:1-8; Mark 2:1-12)

17And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. 18And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. 19And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. 20And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. 21And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? 22But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? 23Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? 24But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. 25And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. 26And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.

Jesus Calls Levi
(Matthew 9:9-13; Mark 2:13-17)

27And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. 28And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

29And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. 30But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? 31And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Jesus Questioned about Fasting
(Matthew 9:14-15; Mark 2:18-20)

33And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink? 34And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? 35But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

The Patches and Wineskins
(Matthew 9:16-17; Mark 2:21-22)

36And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. 37And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. 38But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. 39No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

Luke 6
King James Bible

The Lord of the Sabbath
(1 Samuel 21:1-9; Matthew 12:1-8; Mark 2:23-28)

1And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands. 2And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days? 3And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him; 4How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone? 5And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath
(Matthew 12:9-14; Mark 3:1-6)

6And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. 7And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him. 8But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. 9Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it? 10And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. 11And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

The Twelve Apostles
(Matthew 10:1-4; Mark 3:13-19)

12And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. 13And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; 14Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, 15Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes, 16And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.

Jesus Ministers to a Great Crowd
(Matthew 4:23-25)

17And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; 18And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. 19And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

The Beatitudes
(Psalm 1:1-6; Matthew 5:3-12)

20And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. 21Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. 22Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. 23Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

Woes
(Amos 6:1-7)

24But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. 25Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. 26Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Love Your Enemies
(Leviticus 24:17-23; Matthew 5:38-48)

27But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. 29And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also. 30Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. 31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. 32For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. 33And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. 34And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. 36Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Do Not Judge
(Matthew 7:1-6; Romans 14:1-12)

37Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: 38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

39And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? 40The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. 41And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 42Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

A Tree and its Fruit
(Matthew 7:15-23; Matthew 12:33-37)

43For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 44For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. 45A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

The House on the Rock
(Matthew 7:24-27)

46And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Dogs are being tortured—please help them

Help end appalling experiments on animals!

There are desolate, terrifying places where sick, frightened dogs cower in barren metal cages, with swollen tongues and jaw muscles so weak that they make swallowing even the thinnest gruel difficult. There are places where dogs are purposely bred with a painful canine form of muscular dystrophy (MD) that will leave them unable to walk, eat, or even breathe. This is going on right now at Texas A&M University (TAMU) in the United States and at France's Alfort National Veterinary School—and at other antiquated experimentation facilities around the world, animals are enduring similar agony in other useless tests. Over three decades of torturing dogs in hideous experiments have not led to a cure for MD—or even a single treatment to reverse the disease's devastating symptoms in humans. please help these animals by making a special donation to "Cut It Out"—PETA's Animal Test Challenge today.

Will you help birds and other animals?

As soon as PETA affiliates exposed the secret suffering of dogs at TAMU and Alfort, compassionate people flooded both institutions with e-mails and phone calls demanding change. Tens of thousands joined PETA's international affiliates in urging French charity AFM-Téléthon to cut off its support for grotesque, useless experiments on dogs—and many MD patients from around the globe are now publicly calling for human-relevant, animal-free research methods to be funded instead of dog torture. We need every extra dollar we can raise from caring people like you to put into promoting modern, non-animal research methods that will prevent dogs and other animals from being abused like this and killed in laboratories. Your gift to PETA today will bolster our work to stop painful, deadly experiments on animals. Please donate right now and your contribution will help spare dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals immense suffering in cruel experiments.

Take the Challenge.

Thank you for your compassion and for everything that you do for animals. https://secure.petaasia.com/page/30423/donate/1?ea.tracking.id=1&ea.url.id=1506638

Geese plucked raw, bleeding, crying out in pain

Help end the torture of geese. If you can imagine being lifted up, swung around by your neck, and then pinned down so that clumps of hair can be torn out of your head—without painkillers—you might have an idea of the agony that geese endure every time that they're "live-plucked."

Will you help birds and other animals?

The down industry is hell on Earth for these sensitive, highly sociable animals. Eyewitnesses have documented that workers—even on some so-called "responsible" and "humane" farms—step on birds' wings and necks, put them in chokeholds, and yank their feathers out hard enough to tear their skin open. Geese are suffering for down—and we must protect them.

Will you help birds and other animals?

When it's all over, workers crudely stitch up birds' wounds with a needle and thread, again without giving them any pain relief whatsoever. Once they've been plucked nearly bare, the dazed, terrified birds run shrieking back to their flocks. No animal should endure misery like this.

Will you help birds and other animals?

Many geese will face the same torturous live plucking multiple times throughout their lives, until the day that they're killed for their flesh—if they don't first succumb to the neglect that's rampant in the industry. Footage from Chinese goose farms reveals that birds were left to die slowly and painfully and that the bodies of those who'd died before them were tossed out like trash or thrown into ponds to decay. Birds aren't objects to be exploited, neglected, and killed.

Will you help birds and other animals?

JERRY, together, we can make a world of difference for geese and other animals in desperate need. Your vital support will help PETA expose and stop the suffering that's inherent in the global down trade and all other animal-exploiting industries. It will also strengthen our high-profile campaigns that are inspiring designers, retailers, and compassionate consumers to ditch all animal-derived materials. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.

URGENT: Abandoned Dolphin, Penguins Need Your Help

A dolphin called Honey, 46 penguins, and hundreds of fish and reptiles have been abandoned at Inubosaki Marine Park Aquarium in Choshi, Japan, after it shut down earlier this year. Former employees are reportedly feeding the animals, but Honey has been left imprisoned in a tiny, filthy pool with green, cloudy water, and penguins have been spotted in unsafe enclosures littered with debris. Honey—who was captured in 2005 near Taiji during Japan's annual dolphin slaughter—is growing increasingly frustrated and stressed from being deprived of everything that's natural and important to her. If she's transferred to another aquarium, she'll likely spend the rest of her life in a tiny tank, being forced to perform circus-style tricks for food. It's vital that all the animals imprisoned at the run-down aquarium be released to sanctuaries, where they'd be protected and free from harassment. PETA stands ready to help with their relocation. Please click here to ask the governor of Chiba Prefecture—who has the authority to release the animals—to take immediate action and transfer the animals to a sanctuary, where they can live out the rest of their days in peace.

Luke 7 King James Bible
The Centurion's Great Faith
(Matthew 8:5-13; John 4:43-54)

1Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

2And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 3And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. 4And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: 5For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. 6Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 9When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 10And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

Jesus Raises a Widow's Son
11And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. 12Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 13And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 14And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. 15And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. 16And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. 17And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.

John's Inquiry
(Matthew 11:1-6)

18And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. 19And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 20When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 21And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. 22Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. 23And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Jesus Testifies about John
(Matthew 11:7-19; Luke 1:5-25; Luke 16:14-17)

24And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 25But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts. 26But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

27This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

28For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 29And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 30But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

31And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? 32They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept. 33For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. 34The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! 35But wisdom is justified of all her children.

A Sinful Woman Anoints Jesus
36And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. 37And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, 38And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. 39Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

The Parable of the Two Debtors
40And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. 41There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. 42And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? 43Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. 44And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. 45Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. 46My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. 47Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. 48And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. 49And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? 50And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

Luke 8
King James Bible

Women Minister to Jesus

1And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, 2And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, 3And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

The Parable of the Sower
(Matthew 13:1-9; Mark 4:1-9)

4And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: 5A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. 7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

9And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? 10And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

11Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

The Lesson of the Lamp
(Mark 4:21-25)

16No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. 17For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. 18Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

Jesus' Mother and Brothers
(Matthew 12:46-50; Mark 3:31-35)

19Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press. 20And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. 21And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

Jesus Stills the Storm
(Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-41)

22Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. 23But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. 24And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

Demons Cast into Pigs
(Matthew 8:28-34; Mark 5:1-20)

26And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. 27And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. 28When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. 29(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) 30And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. 31And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

32And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. 33Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

34When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country. 35Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 36They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed. 37Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again. 38Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.

The Healing Touch of Jesus
(Matthew 9:18-26; Mark 5:21-43)

40And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him. 41And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: 42For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

43And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, 44Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. 45And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 46And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 47And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. 48And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

49While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. 50But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. 51And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. 52And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. 53And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 54And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. 55And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. 56And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

Breaking Investigation: Sheep in England Stomped On, Punched, and Cut for Wool

PETA's latest eyewitness investigation found that workers threw, beat, stomped on, kicked, mutilated, and killed sheep as they sheared them in England. As you can see in the groundbreaking video footage, shearers violently punched these gentle animals in the face, beat them, jabbed them in the head with sharp metal clippers, and stomped and stood on their heads and necks. They threw scared sheep around and slammed their heads and bodies against hard wooden floors. The eyewitness never saw any veterinary care given to the animals, including those with mastitis—a painful udder infection—and prolapsed uteruses. WATCH THE NEW VIDEO, AND TAKE ACTION These animals need your help. Will you pledge to ditch wool and share this footage with your family and friends? Together, we can make a difference for these suffering animals. All you have to do is take action today.

Sheep need your help right now!

Help protect sheep from being abused for their wool and violently killed. Every sheep is an individual who feels fear and pain—yet to the wool industry, they're little more than commodities to be exploited. Take the challenge! After being abused for their wool for years on end, sheep in Australia are crammed together by the thousands into massive ships to be transported to the Middle East. Many will be killed by the unrelenting heat and rampant disease that surround them. Some may even be trampled to death, unable to get back on their feet after falling to the feces-laden floor. Those who do manage to survive the deadly voyage will be taken to a butcher who will cut their throats, often while they're still conscious. PETA and our international affiliates are determined to spare sheep in Australia the horrifying ordeal of live export, and we're working to prevent thousands of others from suffering in the global wool industry. Will you support this and all of our other vital work for animals by donating today?

Dedicated campaigning by PETA Australia and other animal-protection groups has brought us closer than ever to seeing the end of Australia's vile live-export trade—but if we're to prevent all gentle sheep from being punched, kicked, and roughly shorn, we must keep working round the clock to drive down the demand for wool. PETA is inspiring countless consumers to go wool-free, encouraging retailers to improve their animal-welfare policies, and keeping the pressure on decisionmakers to pass legislation that protects animals. I'm confident that with your support today, we'll be able to spare many more sheep and other animals lives of misery. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.

Goats thrown, cut, killed for mohair https://secure.petaasia.com/page/28750/donate/1?ea.tracking.id=1&ea.url.id=1474877

Goats thrown, cut, and killed for mohair. Please help stop this! It is a ghastly scene, but we're out to stop it, and we can with your help. Goats cry out in terror as workers drag and throw them across the hard wooden floor of a shearing shed. Some are little more than babies, only 6 months old, experiencing this agony for what will be the first, but not the last, time. Others bear jagged scars from the last shearing that they endured, just months ago. No animal should suffer for a sweater, hat, or ball of yarn. There are just hours left. Please help. Please Help Goats Now! These are prey animals, so being held down fills them with dread that they are about to be killed. They are petrified, and they struggle and try to avoid the sharp shears that cut their faces and leave bloody gashes on their bodies as shearers pin them to the filthy floor, even sitting on them. When the workers have finished hacking off the soft hair, they crudely stitch up the animals' wounds, without any pain relief at all.

All this suffering is to remove the gentle goats' hair so that it can be sold to be made into mohair sweaters, hats, and yarn and shipped around the world. PETA is working to stop this cruelty, and your donation right now will strengthen this and all our other vital campaigns. A recent PETA exposé of farms in South Africa revealed to millions of people the intense suffering and neglect that goats endure in the cruel mohair industry. The goats are repeatedly robbed of their natural insulation—putting them at risk of dying from exposure to the cold. Some succumb to injuries or thirst after getting stuck in thorn bushes while looking for food. Workers will retrieve goats' corpses to cut off every last strand of hair. Or they'll kill the goats themselves. The eyewitness saw one worker cut two fully conscious goats' throats with a dull knife. If these gentle, social animals manage to survive five or six years of this horrific abuse, they are then sold for food, which invariably means a crude backyard slaughter. Will you please make a gift right now to help PETA protect goats and other animals from ever experiencing such terror and pain?

I hate to say it, but goats aren't the only ones abused by the global skins trade. From rabbits to alligators and from cows to foxes, huge numbers of animals suffer every day in cruel traps or in factory-farm prisons. They are bludgeoned and stripped of their skin—often while still conscious. Animals facing such abuse need our help—and backed by compassionate people like you, PETA is making landmark progress toward sparing them this immense cruelty. Just months after the release of our groundbreaking exposé, we have persuaded nearly 300 brands around the world to commit to a ban on mohair, and more companies are joining the list all the time. PETA and our international affiliates have persuaded dozens of top designers to go fur-free, and our exposé of rabbit farms in China has helped decimate the global trade in angora wool. We must keep this momentum going and spare many more animals, including goats, horrendous suffering! Feathers Torn Out by the Fistful

Right now, on a massive farm in China, a terrified goose is crying out in pain as a worker violently tears out fistfuls of her feathers, leaving bloody, open wounds. When he is done with her, she's callously thrown aside as he grabs yet another goose by the neck. Now it's her turn. This is "live plucking," a cruel practice that millions of geese—including those on farms that are linked to so-called "responsible" down suppliers—will endure over and over again before they are killed for their flesh. One expert has said that this nightmarish procedure is as painful for birds as tearing clumps of hair from humans' heads would be. we need your help to stop such cruelty. Please donate now to support PETA's work to end the suffering of geese and other animals facing abuse and exploitation.

A PETA U.S. exposé first revealed the misery experienced by geese who are live-plucked for the down used in jackets, sleeping bags, bedding, and other products. Soon after, kind people from around the world were ditching down from their wardrobes and linen closets completely. But rather than listening to growing consumer calls to stop the suffering, the desperate down industry promoted a set of international standards that mislead shoppers with promises of "responsible," "non live-plucked" down. When representatives from PETA and PETA U.S. again went to China, this time to investigate farms connected to so-called "responsible" suppliers, they documented treatment that was anything but humane. Workers were seen tightly binding birds' feet together, stepping and pulling on their delicate wings and necks, and tearing their feathers right out while they struggled and screamed. Sick and injured chicks and adult geese and ducks were left to die slowly. Eyewitnesses saw dead birds decaying in crates and ponds and tossed out like trash. By donating to PETA today, you'll immediately power our vital work to stop the abuse of geese and other animals.

While international certifications such as the Responsible Down Standard claim to assure consumers that live-plucked down won't end up in certified products, the standards actually allow suppliers to deal in both down that is live-plucked and down that is not and remain certified. Eyewitnesses spoke with farmers and buyers with links to "responsible" companies that deal in live-plucked down, and one buyer bragged about misleading consumers by hiding and mislabeling down and feathers that were painfully torn from live geese. A factory even admitted to producing 15 metric tons of live-plucked down in a single year—the result of some 250,000 violent pluckings! Exposing these cruel practices and falsehoods is the best way to stop them, and we're making progress toward ending this vile trade. Every day, more caring people pledge to go down-free, and PETA and our international affiliates have inspired dozens of clothing and homeware retailers to ditch down and feathers. And we're keeping the pressure on notorious outerwear company Canada Goose to ban down and embrace sustainable, animal-free materials, which are more widely available than ever. By donating to PETA today, you'll immediately power our vital work to stop the abuse of geese and other animals. Thank you for your compassion and generosity. https://secure.petaasia.com/page/29909/donate/1?ea.tracking.id=1&ea.url.id=1495338

Lions Leave Behind Only Bloody Bits of Rhino Poachers

Posted on 8 July 2018 at 12:00AM by PETA

A few scattered, bloodied body parts, including a severed head, and some guns: That was pretty much all that was left of three poachers who were reportedly mauled to death by a pride of lions after sneaking onto a nature reserve to kill rhinos for their horns.

Three poachers are EATEN by lions at South African nature reserve
At least three poachers are believed to have been eaten by lions at the Sibuya Game Reserve near Kenton-on-Sea in Eastern Province, South Africa, after a head and body parts were found.

“[T]he lions are our watchers and guardians and [the poachers] picked the wrong pride and became a meal,” Sibuya Game Reserve owner Nick Fox told Daily Express.

Fox told reporters that along with the bloody remains and empty shoes, staffers at the South African nature reserve found high-powered hunting rifles, axes (used to chop off rhinos’ horns), and enough food to last for several days. He also noted that there could be more half-eaten poachers unearthed in the thick 30-square-mile bushland. This year alone, nine rhinos from surrounding reserves have been shot and killed with high- powered rifles. It’s suspected that this was the gang responsible for those killings. Until the world rejects the morbid obsession that some humans have with dead animals’ body parts and realizes that living beings are not “trophies,” humans and other animals will both pay the price. Just like other animals whose body parts are fetishized, rhinos are slaughtered and their bodies are mutilated. Whether they’re in the wild or in captivity, these individuals live in mortal danger of being killed by callous humans who can sell a single one of their horns for tens of thousands of dollars on the black market.

Hunters kill millions of animals every year and have contributed to the extinction of species all around the world, including the Tasmanian tiger, the Zanzibar leopard, and the dodo. Rhinos are on course to suffer a similar fate. Western black rhinos and their northern white counterparts have become extinct in the wild, and a subspecies of the Javan rhino was declared extinct in the animals’ native Vietnam in 2011. Many humans have been killed by the same animals they intended to slaughter and claim as bloodlust trophies. As unfortunate as any death may be, no one can blame animals for protecting themselves and their homes or acting on natural instinct. https://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/animals/photos/13-animals-hunted-to-extinction/hunted-to-death#top-desktop

Help protect sheep from being abused for their wool and violently killed.

http://action.petaasiapacific.com/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=110&ea.campaign.id=104804&_ga=2.22371195.1712348724.1532348895-1180147808.152588474

Take the challenge!

Luke 9 King James Bible
The Ministry of the Twelve
(Matthew 10:5-15; Mark 6:7-13)

1Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. 3And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. 4And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. 5And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. 6And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

Herod Desires to See Jesus
(Matthew 14:1-12; Mark 6:14-29)

7Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead; 8And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again. 9And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.

The Feeding of the Five Thousand
(Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:30-44; John 6:1-15)

10And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

12And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place. 13But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people. 14For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company. 15And they did so, and made them all sit down. 16Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

Peter's Confession of Christ
(Matthew 16:13-20; Mark 8:27-30; John 6:66-71)

18And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? 19They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again. 20He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.

Jesus Predicts His Death
(Matthew 16:21-23; Mark 8:31-33)

21And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing; 22Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

Take Up Your Cross
(Matthew 10:37-39; Matthew 16:24-28; Mark 8:34-38)

23And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 26For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. 27But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

The Transfiguration
(Matthew 17:1-13; Mark 9:1-13; 2 Peter 1:16-21)

28And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. 29And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. 30And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: 31Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. 32But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. 33And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said. 34While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. 35And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 36And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

Jesus Heals a Boy with an Evil Spirit
(Matthew 17:14-21; Mark 9:14-29; Luke 17:5-10)

37And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him. 38And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child. 39And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him. 40And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not. 41And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither. 42And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

Jesus Again Predicts His Death
(Luke 18:31-34)

43And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples, 44Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. 45But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

The Greatest in the Kingdom
(Matthew 18:1-6; Mark 9:33-37)

46Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. 47And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, 48And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

49And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. 50And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

Samaritans Reject Jesus
51And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. 53And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. 54And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? 55But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

The Cost of Following Jesus
(Matthew 8:18-22; Luke 14:25-33; John 6:60-65)

57And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 58And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. 59And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. 61And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. 62And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Luke 10 King James Bible

Jesus Sends Out the Seventy-Two

1After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. 2Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. 3Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. 4Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. 5And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. 6And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. 7And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. 8And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: 9And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. 10But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, 11Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. 12But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

Woe to the Unrepentant
(Matthew 11:20-24)

13Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you. 15And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.

16He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

The Seventy-Two Return with Joy
17And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. 18And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving
(Matthew 11:25-30)

21In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. 22All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: 24For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan
25And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 26He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? 27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. 28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. 29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. 33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. 36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Martha and Mary
38Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Chinese Badger-Brush Industry: Animals Hunted Illegally, Barbarically Killed
A PETA Asia investigation into the Chinese badger-brush industry reveals that workers violently killed fully conscious badgers. The animals were heard crying out before their throats were barbarically slit – so that their hair could be used as bristles in brushes for painting, make-up, and shaving, which are sold by a number of companies.

PETA eyewitnesses visited multiple badger farms across China, which exports badger-hair brushes to countries worldwide. On every farm, they documented hellish conditions for the animals, including being confined to cramped wire cages and often suffering from severe, untreated injuries. One's leg had even been chewed off by another badger in a nearby cage. To kill them, workers bashed the animals in the head with whatever object was handy. One was bludgeoned with a chair leg. Other badgers who are killed to make brushes are hunted illegally, using snares and other cruel methods—even though they're a "protected" species. If you buy animal-hair brushes, there's no way to know who was killed for them. Many of these brushes are manufactured in developing countries where there are few penalties for abusing animals—or none at all, such as in China. Please urge Dick Blick Art Materials and Gents Barbershop and Spa (GBS) to stop selling badger-hair brushes immediately and to end its support of this horrific industry.

august 25 th 2018 See the suffering woven into mohair

We must not let the mohair industry cause goats such suffering!

The tags on sweaters, hats, and other items made with mohair don't mention the absolute terror of an angora goat kid violently shorn for the first time or reveal that workers plunge live goats into tanks of cleaning solution. The mohair industry doesn't think you'll ever find out that shearers handle goats so roughly that the animals sustain cuts to their faces and necks—or that workers sometimes remove hair from the rotting corpses of dead goats. It assumes you'll never discover that thousands of goats will succumb to exposure or predator attacks this year—or hear about the backyard slaughter operations where animals will be viciously butchered with dull knives. All this suffering is woven into all those mohair sweaters and balls of yarn—and PETA is determined to end it.

There are just hours left. Please help. PETA's first-of-its-kind exposé of the South African mohair industry has pulled away the veil, informing millions of unsuspecting consumers about this cruelty. Nearly 300 brands have committed to banning mohair—and the list is still growing every day. Now, some in the fashion industry are fearful that they'll soon have to change their dirty habits—so they're trying to downplay the evidence in PETA's exposé. They want to keep profiting from the exploitation of gentle, vulnerable goats rather than using the animal-friendly materials that compassionate consumers demand. We must fight back against these groups, and we need you with us. Will you make a donation right now to help PETA expose—and stop—the abuse of goats and other animals? PETA and our international affiliates are a force to be reckoned with. We've persuaded major designers and retailers to go fur-free, called on large fashion shows to ditch leather and other animal-derived materials, and exposed the intense suffering of animals. And since clothing giants from H&M to Zara are banning mohair as a result of our exposé, the abusive mohair industry may be doomed. But right now, our opponents are determined to continue their cruel business as usual, and we can't let that happen! Please strengthen PETA's vital work for goats and other animals by donating generously today.

Thank you for your compassion.
